OK..from your profile this is a 2000 SPortage.
Having few details, lets review the "common" problems:
Lots of starting problems are traced to the IdleAIrCOntrool valve (IAC).
http://www.geocities.com/lmp4203/kiasport/IAC2000.jpg
Remove and clean with gas or carb cleaner. This is a 0$ job that should be done as normal maintenance anyway. My guess is the search would end here...at least I hope cause it would be so simple.

2nd in line is the crank position sensor. In fact knowing if you have spark would be interesting (but going for the spark plugs is quite arkward.. ) ; a no fire condition could be traced to this component, almost a maintenance item at that age. But usually, it works the opposite: car starts..and then stalls 5 minutes later or does not start again once wrmed up
http://www.geocities.com/lmp4203/kiasport/cam_crank_sensors.jpg

3rd in line would be fuel pump...but this item is much too often seen as a culprit ...but it happens. Checking fuel rail pressure would help confirm or deny this option. From your symptoms, I do not think this is your problem.

thank you for ur reply. ok the dealer has changed the timing belt he changed something to do with the cuircut board, and a few smaller things and now he is changing the filter and pump, what happens is the dealer has it to fix it and they get it running and i get it back and it will run but after i let it sit overnite it wont start back up. i thought that a pump ran constant if it was bad the car wouldnt run at all right, or could that be the problem????

i would say fuel pump...but before doing that i would spray some starting fluid in it when it wont start..then if it fires up with fluid has to be filter or pump....good luck.....

i ended up getting my fuel pump and the filter changed but now it starts(barely) but it is so rough its like im forcing it to start and a few times it seemed like it shook the whole car to start it. can any one help:shakehead

(Replied in this thread to help other helpers to follow the logic. I suggest you delete the other thread to avoid scattering the info) .
As a lot of things have been done, it is difficult to come with a probable solution. I just want to recall the timing belt change basics
www.geocities.com/lmp4203/kiasport/TimingBelt.zip
because with the symptoms you describe now, several will question the cam timing...not very interesting, but in same situation, before anything else, I would certainly try to confirm if all settings are really "on the mark"....

cam timing??? i dont know how to check that is that included in the timing belt timing?? it was starting but a few times it would turn over, try to stall and then start all in one turn of the key could that be a starter??? what about the spark plugs??? and thank you for all ur help oh and i dont know how to delete threads yet lol

TO delete a post, just click "edit" then you will have the "delete" option .
The timing "belt"..times the cams...SO it is all about being sure to have the timing marks on the chrankshaft and cam pulleys correctly positioned as drawings shows .
http://www.avigex.ca/LP/marks.jpg
This is something I would want to be sure of.. ..
What you describe is hard to blame on spark plugs...but you mentioned so many things; that opens a lot of possible mistakes....would like to know more about "something to do with the circuit board"....somewhat vague...in any case, what you described in the first post is irrelevant with the timing belt...but if car has more than 70,000 miles, then that was OK to replace the timing belt, no question, but this adds some uncertainty to the integrity of the system....errors happen...
This being said, ignition problems are frequent on that car, as well as failed sensor connectors, crankshaft position sensor. Was the CEL ON and were any codes retreived? MAke sure you have the IAC valve cleaned!

ok itschanged a bit now it starts but it is really hard to start when it gets cold out it seems i looked for some troubleshootings and found like 30 lol a bit to much to start with maybe you can help me narrow it down a bit thank you :banghead:

sounds like sarter but how much cold cranking amps you got in your car???? but turning over and want to slow like i said starter..or battery not enough cold cranking amps...good luck...

...now it starts but it is really hard to start when it gets cold
This sounds different than the first post: Must make things clear: does the STARTER crank normally...or does it barely cranks the engine?
If it barely cranks, we have a battery problem. Does it crank better if you boost it with another car battery?.

NOw if it does crank normally on the starter but then the ENGINE does not FIRE UP, that is something else. TO narrow options down, the description of the problem or symptoms must be as accurate as possible.

Well..can be a lot of things, here. Most frequent solution for this is cleaning IAC valve, don't know if you have done that already. What is the cause of any difference between "now" and "before" , that is just after the T belt was changed? was something changed ? Was something verified (like correct timing belt reference points). Was the crank position sensor changed?
ONce it runs, is performance up to par?
AS for deleting thread starting posts, it seems not possible , I've had same problem. One can delete own's subsequent posts, but not the opening post. THe forum administrator could change that option.

well the pump and filter were changed to and no the sensor wasnt changed my dealer said if that was it, it would have a c.e.l. on and it dont. oh and also it squeels real bad i think its the a/c compressor if that is the case wouldnt it put strain on the belt and make the car not start as good? and after it starts it runs pretty good sometimes it seems like im making it go like it dont want to but that isnt all the time

if the starter seems to work fine and it just takes a while to start i would test the coolant temp sensor. if its it reads wrong the fuel/air ratio is not correct and makes it hard to start. common problem. tune up lately?

have you changed the battery? does it say kia on it? if it does it is the original battery. this is starting to sound like my wifes 2000 kia before i told her to replace her battery.

they put a brand new battery in when i bought it maybe a month and a half ago

well the pump and filter were changed
YOu're talking of the fuel pump and filter, I suppose.
the sensor wasnt changed my dealer said if that was it, it would have a c.e.l.
I do not insist on this, but the conditions required to light up the CEL with P0335 or P0336 are running conditions: poor signal during starting only generally does not bring a code. However, most crank sensor failures are worst when engine is warm...so this works on your side.
it squeels real bad i think its the a/c compressor if that is the case wouldnt it put strain on the belt and make the car not start as good?
Most improbable. Removing the belt would just confirm if a/c is the source of the noise.

Finally, was the IAC valve cleaned? That is a 0$ maintenance and it has proved to be the solution to poor starting in SEVERAL cases.
ALso check all hoses for air leaks. Also make sure little port in center of intake manifold is plugged. www.geocities.com/lmp4203/kiasport/vacuumhose.jpg
