Which Skyline would be the best to own as a first Skyline experience?
R32 GT-R non vspec
R32 GTS-t
R33 GT-R non vspec
R33 GT-S
R34 GT-t
R34 GT-R non vspec
R34 GT-R Vspec
I know the R32 is a good street car, R33 good for track and street, and the R34 is just the best car out there...gt-r or not. which one is a good beginner?

If I have bundles of $$$$ I would of course start with the 32 GTR, then 33 GTR and then 34 GTR. The 32 GTR is of course a good starter. But owning a GTR is not about owning and driving only. It is about upgrade upgrade and upgrade!:D And that breaks the bank! So, buy a GTR that is within budget, regardless of the model, then work yourself up the upgrade ladder till you have got enough! Even a 32 can be better than a 34 if it is carefully upgraded and cared for.

i agree, well put...that is my plan...I love the way an R32 looks with a carbon hood, other than that, it looks good without a body kit...i want to get bigger turbos for any skyline i get, beefier internals, like cams, pistons, and what not...nice intake/exhaust system, preferably hks, and if they come stock with those sweet gt-r rims like the r32 in sport compact car a few months ago, im keeping those...sound good?

Looks like you have it all planned. Carbon hood/bigger turbos/stronger internals...hmmm...tantalizing...:licker: One piece of advice,if I may, don't stick with HKS only. I used to do that until recently when I discovered Top Secret. The Top Secret fuel computer, for eg, is far far ahead than the HKS F Con V Pro.
Good luck with the plan and HAPPY SKYLINING:smoker2:

I'm still confused as to why people think the R34 is better than the R32...everybody over here knows better:D How "Big" are you going to make....are you talking T51 or are you talking 600ps? For the latter, to learn from my mistakes, GT2530's are better around than the 40's....yeah the 40's put out some juice, but have more lag. Go footwork and engine at the same time...don't do one without the other....Mine had a nasty habit of comin up high when I stopped on the gas in 1,2,or 3rd. Feels all skittish. Sorry....the R32 rims you saw in SCC were the R34's...with the center cap repainted. These that you see are stock (another reason my ride is a bit skittish when I jump on the pedal).
R33 when you're talking T/S vs HKS for ECU/adj are you talking power or adjustability?

Hi Gtr2.7L, now that my GTR has 2540s, I can tell you that they are not bad at all! Drive the car at 80kph in 5th, mash the pedal, the boost comes in at about 2500-2600rpm. When it hits circa 3800 rpm, whoosh.....:D After 500 rpm, oh my Gawd....I NEED BETTER DOWNFORCE because it feels like the car is about to lift off!
Top Secret ROM has it all - more tuning range for air/fuel/ignition mix. It also has two knock sensors and it's own oxygen sensor unlike the HKS. When the knock sensors sense knocking, it would automatically retard the ignition to prevent serious knocking. I used shit fuel the other day and on 4 ocassions this came into play at 7000 rpm. Had I stuck with my F Con V, my engine would have gone bust by now!

yeah, i hope not to only stay with hks. their products are the best, but i would still like variety...maybe greddy, definitely apex-i, and even topsecret, im still in planning stages of even looking for a skyline, so, hopefully by then ill know exactly what i want to get...i just wish company catalogs werent so expensive....8 bucks for HKS...damn

Hi R33, (apa khabar!) spelling it right?
Anyway reading your thread on your Top Secret ROM, id like to add that the top secret Rom im thinking is basicly the R33 Rom (same as Mines, JUN etc...) with the R32 chip in it. (R33 is not reprogrammable). Same as mine, i have the HKS Kansai ROm in it.. all it is simply is the original ECU that is reprogrammed. Original ECU uses 2 knock sensors both on the back and side of the RB26. Like all cars, when picking up knock, it retards timing.. Thus, you being told of them... But please beware that original knock sensors to pick up knock is already very very bad. Because simply, for it to knock and be picked up, you are talking major detonation... MOST cases, engine is gone before knock sensor saves it.. remembering that a few seconds of detonation is all it takes..
Im guessing when tuning ure ECU it was either done by 2 ways:
1.)Mapping and burning the chip then fitting it.. which is guessing the mixtures.. or
2.)If done whilst running, it would have been using emulator.. setting up air/fule mixtures on a laptop and then burning the chip with those setting and fitting it..
In any case, this is why it is so good when done by a Pro.. Original Rom has alot more tuning ability than say the Fcon V.. Next best would be Power FC but only for tuners that are not able to remap the Standard ECU due to equipment..
In Anycase.. becareful of the Fuel u USE!!! OPTIMAX should be ure best in mlysia right?

Hi thaa...you wouln't believe these guys from Top Secret...I mean they are just so mad...about cars and speed that is. For example, they arrived in S'pore at noon. Without checking in the hotel, they came staright away to the workshop and test drive the car. Then they started tuning till 7pm. Dinner. Then tuning again till 4am. The next day they were at the workshop from 10am. And they did that for 3 days. At 3am on the 4th day, Nagata San did one run in te GTR and it clocked 302kph at about 8k rpm. Later they tuned 2 other GTRs!
N/A - apa khabar? Did you get to contact Lester of GarageR? How's the car doing? As for fuel in M'sia, I am now using Shell V-Power - the fuel they developed from their F1 technology. I read their press release and it said that Michael Schumacher and Ruben Barichello drove the Ferrari F1 on the track with that fuel and they barely noticed the different from racing fuel. It's good and it works for my car and and teh price is okay too....

Geez, R33. Cheap top-quality fuel, good prices on Skylines, and great tuner availability...I'm gonna reconsider Hong Kong:D
