Welcome boydl

This forum is for EVERYTHING Town Car :) Most folks start their relationship here with some kind of technical or mechanical issue, but we're all in here for the long haul.

If you want to show off, bring it on :) If you have some issues, bring 'em in :)

when i had my 95 signature series spinnaker edition i had some aftermarket parts when it came to small things such as new headlights (the old ones yellowed to the point that i could not restore them anymore) and audio speakers, stuff like that. However, when it came to mechanical parts on my town car i ALWAYS used FORD products. and here is why:

my fuel pump had went on my 95 during a pretty heavy snow storm so i could not do it on my own with all the snow on the ground. so i took it to my mechanic. i asked him what was the difference if an aftermarket fuel pump was put in and he said that would be a bad idea and that you should always get critical parts like that from the dealer. so i said ok get a fuel pump from FORD. well, the guy who worked on my car (not my usual mechanic some other guy that was just hired) ordered the part ended up getting an aftermarket part anyway after my request to have a ford fuel pump put in. what happened was the car would never start on the first try after cranking it for 5-7 seconds. then on the 2nd try it would start up. but anytime you let the car sit for a minute or two after you shut it off it would not start on the first crank again. the fuel pressure was not holding in the rails. so my mechanic got very mad at the other mechanic that did my car and made him take the pump out and replaced it with a FORD pump and i didnt get billed :grinyes: . so with my experience with that, i only buy parts from dealer when it comes to critical car parts.
