Low Coolant Light-97 Olds Achieva

97 Olds Achieva: My low coolant light stays lit all the time. But my coolant level is not low-plus the engine temp gauge has never gotten any hotter. I did replace the coolant temp sensor.
Any ideas?

either the connection of the coolant sensor are dirty or thier is air bubbles trapped on the sensor.

there should be a reset button in the fuse panel on the driver side. If you hold the button down for a few seconds it will clear the low coolant light. Now if the light comes back on during the next time you drive, continue with checking the sensors and connections.

your float inside resevoir is stuck. either remove res. and clean by filling with hot water and shaking or replace w/new one.

Adding to this thread, found it through a google search. Hoping that it will help others if they run into the issue.

Replaced heater core, then 2 weeks later replaced radiator.

Low coolant light stayed on, never went off.

Checked with a engine diag tool, no code. Reset battery and removed connections. Kept Adding coolant. Same result.

After 3 weeks and about 1200 miles later give or take, the light went off and on for about a day, and never showed up since. Could have been air or sediment, but in my case also it was just patience.

Some interesting answers.....

There is no reset button by the fuse panel, for the low coolant light....that reset button is for resetting the oil change light, and in some cases the low tire light....

What has happened, is what sowseyed505 said....the float is stuck in the sensor.....however, this only happens when reservoir gets really low....just adding coolant doesn't "unstick" it.....take the end of a screwdriver handle and tap the reservoir in the area of the sensor(don't hit the sensor itself)....the light usually goes out....

If the reservoir was NEVER low, then you could have a bad sensor or connection as xeroinfinity stated....disconnecting the sensor should make the light go out(this checks the circuit).......
