I have a 530 xi (2007).
My problem is the brakes are grabby sorta.
The upper part of teh pedal is very easy, then past a point the brakes apply very hard. I have tried to explain this to the dealer, and get teh normal "cannot duplicate problem. This is downright scarey on wet roads so.
Also radio/stereo/cd/sat etc. keeps intermittantly cutting out. Then back on. Only happens once in a while and only lasts 2-15 seconds, but very annoying.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I work at a BMW dealership and I think I can shed some light on the brake issue. The new 5 and 3 series have really good brakes and when pressed past a point, they grab alot. I can be annoying, but at least you know you dont have bad brakes. Basically, the brakes are new and will become more "normal" after they get a bit of use.
The radio issue, though, is a bit harder to solve. The only explination I can come up with is this:
Your using the sattalite radio (XM) and perhaps you go under a bridge or into a tunnel and it cuts out. Maybe?
The most logical reason this might be happening is basically, the signal is getting broken between the reciever (car) and the sattalites.
Hope these answer your questions.

First thank you for the reply.
I thought the brakes needed to "seat" properly, but I have now had it for 1300 miles and it hasn't gotten any better. If I tried to do a "quick" slowdown on a wet highway, I think it would lead to big problems. They are downright scarey.
The radio cuts out more than just on sat radio. It cuts out on all audio coming from the stereo (sat, fm, cd or ipod)

Hmm, that sounds kind of wierd about the radio, and the dealer should at least be able to run a diagnostic on it to find the problem (because there obviously is one).
The brakes, though, I'm still confident aren't suffering from any problems. The brakes sound like they are behaving normally to me. If you need to make a hard brake on the highway they wont lock at all, the ABS will still work. Unless there is some problem with them, the brakes are OK.
But, of course saftey is a big issue when it comes to brakes, I dont want to be all "Oh no, theres nothing wrong with them" and then end up that there is and you never persued it because I said so. So if/when you bring the 5 into the dealership to get the radio fixed, tell them about it and go on a test drive or somthing and have them see what the problem is, instead of describing it.
I hope these issues get solved, a faulty radio is annoying and faulty brakes are dangerous.

Service writer and service manager drove vehicle. Both agree with me. Service tech says no problem found.
Radio problem "could not duplicate". Personally I think it has to do with the bluetooth. If I disable bt it doesn't do it nearly as much/long. Enable it and it does it more often and longer in duration.

Can't comment on the brakes, but I have same problem on the radio/CD and I have the Bose!! I have also heard of others who have the same problem, usually with the Bose, you are first non-Bose I have heard of. Some blame electrical supply, some earthing. I have tried those solutions (earthing kit and voltage stabilizer) and problem improves but doesn't go away. Also seems more likely to happen on first run in morning while cold, but not 100%.
Dealer cannot trace fault and won't acknowledge that this happens in other cars, no Tech service bulletin etc either. Only solution is re-wire stereo which is expensive and complicated. Let me know if you hear anything though . . . .

Well at least that lets me know I'm not nuts
Thank you
