Redline smokes RSX.

heading back home from the movies tonight and we had just left my friend Jin at his house (got to drive his 289 whp Redline, handles amazingly!) so its my wife driving, her best friend in the passenger seat and Im in the back seat behind the passenger.
its about 11:30 at night and we stop at a red light and a black RSX pulls up next to us. the guy was a latin dude, classic ignorant type too.
when the light goes green he peels off and sticks his head out to look back and smiles back at us like he just smoked us.

"I didnt know he wanted to race!" says my wife.
well lucky for us the next light was also red and once again we lined up side by side.
She revs up and drops the clutch at about 1800 rpms, we sat there spinning for a bit buy surprisingly the wheel hop wassnt as bad as Ive heard. he got a car out but by the time we caught traction we pulled up hard on his tail. she shifted at 5300 rpms and matched him by second. pulled agian up to 5000rpms and shifted. second and third where just brutal, it looked like he hit the brakes from how fast we passed by him. by the top of third she had a 2 car lead or better on him. I saw a cop up ahead at an intersection and screamed out to her to slow it down. she did in time and so did the RSX, we went seperate ways after that.

cliff notes: my wife smokes an RSX and will probably smoke you too! :icon16:

Sounds like fun. Good thing the cop didnt clock you.

And i also want to know if it was a type S

No clue if it was a type S, it was debadged. I think not though, it was so easy to kill him and she didnt even go all out. Im sure it was a base model thats why i didnt title the thread "Redline smokes RSX-S."

Damn bro, you are a one lucky bastard Mushman... I just wish my g/f knew how to race like that... or even be able to drive a stick... or even be able to drive at all!

Lol, either way it's nice to see ur wife getting some kills under her belt... So what is it now for her in a Redline... 2-0?

Sweet!

Even if it was a type S the end result would have been the same. Damn I need a bigger turbo before I start getting smoked by pregnant women:icon16:

Redlines are quick, not fast... dont get toooo cocky. It wont always be an rsx in the other lane.

I'm not gonna say it. I wont...

Good kill for your wife, though. I expected as much. Even if it was a Type S, I've been able to run with them and take them in the past a few times, so I fully expect that you would indeed win.

Ehh good kill for your wife. Sounds like that Redline hauls ass. I'm waiting on you getting the stage 2 package for the car, and seeing what it will do.

Does it corner well?

Does it corner well?

Amazingly!
the steering is electronic so the response is instant. I personally dont like electronics and drive-by-wire but I must admit that with no linkage the reaction and tellemetry of the car is just unbelivable. The suspension for those cars was actually tunned at the Nurburgring. It didnt set any track record but at least they went through the trouble of tunning it at a high control track instead of a straight-linner like Willow Springs.

Since when is Willow Springs a straight line?

Interesting, I want to know what mods are on the Redline to be making 289fwhp, that is awefully high for that car. I know stage 2 and a couple of other bolt ons is good for 240fwhp to even as high as 260fwhp, but 289fwhp is one of the highest I've ever seen or read. I say this cuz my co-worker has a Cobalt SS w/ stage 2 and a some other mods and he can only manage around 240whp. Still a quick little car.

No doubts on the RSX kill, the Redline and Cobalt SS are capable of high 13s w/ stage 2 and bolt ons, w/ slicks or DRs mid 13s and low 13s are possible w/ some kick ass driving. Trap speeds usually range around 103-107mph.

How's he being cocky. His wife was the one racing the car. Also, putting buslengths on RSX's is pretty easy. I'm sure I could put multiple buslengths on one.

If he wants to be cocky all he has to do is step in his 360whp GTO, which i'm sure would run 12's on drag radials. That's good enough to smoke 9 out of 10 cars that you encounter on the road.

Honestly i didnt quiz him but I really doubt hes lying, he is fast and he didnt stage it. Although i hear the GM Stage 3 nets you somewhere around 290 hp.

I know I know, Ive raced at Willow Springs before (in GT4 :icon16: )
I just meant the Ring is a more complex course for suspension tunning.
ahhh, you knew what i meant, you just wanted to school me! :grinno:

Chucks man, I dont know if I can hit the 12's, 13 flat maybe but Id have to get a perfect launch.
I know theres always gonna be a faster car out there though, sorry if the cliff notes came along as "cocky" i was going for hummorous rather then cocky but I never was good at written expression.

Bah, throw some drag radials on, heat them up, launch at 3500rpms, and you should run 12's. Some dude I knew from the mach1registry had 350whp, and he ran a 13.0 sec. 1/4 mile on drag radials, at a horrible track.

Your car's got some power man, don't fool yourself.

That's probably a bad driver then if your car beat them, you have a low 15 second car, Type S's are capable of 14's. We ran my friend's rsx at the 1/8 mile track and got a 9.5 at 78mph, which is about a 14.8ish 1/4. The Redline tho is def faster.

Dont rob any cred. from Cassies man.
Just cause one RSX-S hit that dossent mean they all do.
Ive seen stock SRT-4s hit 14.0 flat and Ive seen them hit 15.1 at the same track. Different batches, different PCMs, different drivers. look at my GTO, it had one of the worst stock PCM settings. I ran 321 to the wheels when other stock GTOs on the same dyno where running 329-331. thank God for HPTunners!

I'm not robbing any credit from Cassies, I think its more of an accomplishment to beat the driver then the car. From what i've seen, those acura's are pretty consistent in the high 14's, which is pretty close to what Cassie can do.

Oh yes, this is nice. When Bulldog goes ranting and raving about how nice the Delta platform lsj equiped cars are everyone calls him an idiot. When Mushman does it, they're now praised as if they've been handed down to us by the hand of God.

I see how it is...you fuckers. :P

And they really do handle as well as he says. Oh yeah, give it about 8,000 miles Mushy, then the wheel-hop kicks in...stg 9 wheel-hop FTL.

But Willow Springs isn't in GT4. Leguna Seca and Infineon Raceway are... but no Willow Springs.

Gosh Mush, your car was a turd. Danno's dynoed at 338whp as I recall. Your car must've been made on a Monday.

nice race man. should do a run of stock, than stage 2. vid tape it.

Yeah man, My GTO had a real bad fuel map, ran rich as hell. And since Dano bought his they've upgraded the stock tunning 3 times. I got the last batch which has the richest and slowest stock tune. see why I was so happy when I finally got her tunned right?

Thanks for the heads up Bulldog, I'll try to get the wheel hop taken care off asap.

thats only if you eqip it with the nitrous.

the only difference between stage 2 and three is like 1 psi, a/c gets disabled, dual pass intercooler plate, and it becomes nitrous ready.
if you dont spray, its only like 250hp

If you guys track race often as I do the easiest way to find out how fast a car really is look at his trap speed regardless of there driving and if they dont sand bag you should be able to get a good idea of where a car stands just from there trap....for example say a 2000 camro ss runs down the quarter clocking 14.6....not a very good time for that car....but if you look at him trap he ended the 1320 at 105mph....so what does that tell you...probably a couple of things 1. he sucks at driving. 2. he spun too much off line. 3. did I mention he sucks at driving. so basically his car is capable of lower times its just a matter if he can drive it there.
