Rediculous gains...

So, I started working out 2 weeks ago from this past Monday, and I must say, I've gained more these 2 weeks then I ever have. I realized about 3 weeks ago that I was eating like 2 extra meals per day, so I figured it was a good reason to get back into working out.

So far I've gone up 85lbs benching, 65lbs on quads, 20 lbs on triceps, 10 on biceps, 35 on shoulders, and overall about 10-20 lbs on other exercises I cant name off the top of my head. My mile in the first week went from 8:30, to a 7:00 flat.

I'm just wondering if these are really normal gains, all I'm taking is protein after working out, about 30-40 grams...also, I'm 5'9'', about 170ish.

It's not too unusual since you just started two weeks ago. It would be more interesting if you continue to gain at the same rate after a month or two.

lots of these gains aren't you getting stronger, it's your body learning to do those excercises and your nervous system learning to recruit more muscles to do the work. your progress will slow alot after this, i can't remember exactly how much i gained my first weeks of working out, but i know that i loaded on 40lbs more on my bench within a very short period last year.

Thats interesting, but 85 lbs on bench in 2 weeks is quite a bit, and Ive noticed that Ive gotten much bigger, I'm hoping to hit 200 on bench on Sunday, Ill keep updates because I'm sure Ill have many questions to come.

it's possible you've put on a bunch of muscle if your diet and work out schedule is good, when i eat properly and work out right i can put on about a pound of muscle per week, although i'm not allowed to put on muscle right now because i'm supposed to drop 15lbs for rowing.

I did sets of 185 today, then decided to go for 200 just to see what I could do after 3 sets of 10 reps of 185, I got it 3 times :).
