Well, the most common starting problem, is your starter. There are a few ways you can tell if its going out. The first, easiest way, is listen. When its not starting, try and listen if you hear anything from the engine bay.

The second is to pull it out, and have it tested. That takes about 20 minutes, and a trip to the parts store.

If ur cars not starting, its gotta be the main relay, thats the only problem us 4th genners have :D . Just kiddin, sry about that. Seriously tho, have u checked ur ECU for codes? Sounds to me like something with fuel, but not sure wat, i bet someone with actual knowledge will reply soon, im just here to make it so u dont feel despondent :D

First we need to define "Not Starting"
1. Starter turns engine over, but engine will not start - could be:
A. Electrical problem
B. Fuel problem

2. Starter does not turn engine over - could be:
A. Electrical - could be:
a. Wiring - are all connections related to battery and starter in good working order? Sometimes you must take connections apart and clean them.
b. Manual transmission car? If yes, the clutch pedal must be fully depressed in order for the starter motor to turn the engine over.
c. Manual tarnsmission? Clutch switch could be bad or disconnected.
d. Bad starter

I am sure there are quite a few more things to check, but these are a few that came to mind.

Hope this helps!!!
