HELP with '95 Town Car

Recently acquired a '95 TC Signature. The driver side sun visor has three little tiny buttons and a miniature light on the corner. The owners manual does not tell what these buttons are for. Can anyone help?

Where would I find the flashers for the turn signals and 4 way flashers? How does one adjust the headlights?

Hi SS.

The Homelite entry system is around page 139 in the manual.. my 1996 is right on 139+(140+141) :) These are for three different garage doors.

I suspect you have no flasher units, like me.. What's the problem there?

The headlight adjusters are under small 'doors' under the hood, above the headlights. The doors are held closed by squeeze clips.

Nothing what-so-ever in my book about a Homelite entry system. Don't have a garage, therefore no garage doors, therefore no problem!

4 ways did not work when I bought the car. Turn Signals quit today. All the fuses and circuit breakers are good - under dash and under hood.

I looked under those "doors" today and saw what I thought "possibly" might be adjusting screws but was not sure. Guess I'll have to try and figure out how they work - they are not like the traditional ones. My headlights are adjusted way too low.

I hate to be the one to bring this up, but the problem with the flashers normally comes down to a bad Multi Function Switch between the steering wheel and the steering column. There are exceptions.. but you've described checking all the standard points as "good". However if you read on into the latest few threads re: electrical problems, some of these things need a diagnostics expert running through the check points. The last thing anyone wants to replace due to cost is the LCM (lighting control module).

The entry system works on any remote entry, security gates, home alarms, etc. Anything that has a remote 'clicker'. I have two different security gates and a garage to deal with so it comes in handy.

The headlight adjusters are definitely unique, the book says to get a hex socket on the stud and turn it by hand, yeah right!

There's two long studs, roughly 6mm width.. one vertical one horizontal adjuster. The end of that stud has a ?? 5mm ?? hex end that when turned spins the whole stud, and adjusts the aim.

Universal Transmitter

The universal transmitter provides a convenient way to consolidate the functions of up to three individual hand-held transmitters into one universal transmitter.

The universal transmitter:
Will operate garage doors, gates, home/office lighting systems, or even security systems; nearly any device that is controlled by radio frequency.

Will actually learn and transmit the radio frequency of up to three of your current hand-held transmitters from any of the systems mentioned above.

Is an integral part of the LH inside visor and powered by your vehicle's battery and charging system. No batteries are needed.

Programming

Before Programming
Make sure batteries in the hand-held transmitter are not dead.

Hold hand-held transmitter in the exact position described, against the universal transmitter.

Hold buttons for duration of the programming, without interruption.

For best results, place the hand-held transmitter end opposite the battery compartment against the universal transmitter when programming.

1. CAUTION: During this procedure the system that you are programming will be made to operate. Make sure that people or objects are clear of the garage door or gate that you are programming.



Decide which one of the three universal transmitter channels you want to program (Button 1, 2, or 3).

2. Hold the end of your hand-held transmitter button against the bottom surface of the universal transmitter so that you can still see the red light.

3. Using both hands, push both the hand-held transmitter button and the desired universal transmitter button. DO NOT RELEASE EITHER BUTTON. Continue to hold both buttons through step 4.

4. Hold down both buttons until you see the red light on the universal transmitter flash first slowly and then rapidly. This could take up to a minute or more. Release both buttons after light flashes rapidly.

The rapid flash means that the universal transmitter has been successfully programmed to match your hand-held transmitter. You can now use the universal transmitter instead of your hand-held transmitter.


Operation

To operate, simply press the appropriate button on the universal transmitter. The red light illuminates while the signal is being transmitted.


Clearing Program

To clear the universal transmitter of all previously programmed frequencies, simultaneously hold down buttons 1 and 3 until the red light begins to flash. This will clear all three channels.

Individual channels cannot be cleared, but can be reprogrammed at any time by implementing the programming procedures as outlined.

I copied the info about the Universal Transmitter along with the picture of it and placed it in my book.

Guess I'll have to take the car in to the garage and have the TS & flashers checked. If it is too much to fix them I'll have to drive without.

F Y I try bribbling some wd-40 down the flasher buttun on top of the steering colume. this worked for me when i tried to use the flashers and the switch stuck and my turn signals went away. there are 3 screws that hold the top and bottom of the steering colume cover together. pull them from the bottom, turn ign on and pull shift lever over to low gear. then pry cover apart on the left side and spray m f s w/ wd-40.
if a drop is good, think what a quart will do.
try this first, and let me know.
option 2 ti to buy a m f s and put it in your self. even this costs $$$
