After I got a new rack and hoses installed and a wheel alignment
I have a note on my last repair invoice the states:
Memory steer do to strut plates starting to seize
Can the Struts and the strut plates be installed without compressing the springs?
any online instructions on how to install strut plates?

Your struts are cartridges.

Thanks for your reply I think the problem is with the strut plates I get a loud creaking and growing sound out of the right front strut when I turn right or go over large bumps. but once I turn the wheel back to the left its back to normal for awhile.
I just wanted to know if I need to compress the springs to remove the Upper Front Strut Mounts?
Thanks!

You mean compress the strut springs while the strut assembly is still mounted to the car? I don't believe that is necessary. Since you are referring to the upper strut mount/load bearing you may need to remove the complete strut assembly. You should be able to remove the whole strut assembly without using the spring compressor tool. Then use the tool to compress the springs so you can remove the upper strut mount/load bearing. That is how we do it on 97 and up Regals. The difference is we do not have a strut cartridge. The whole strut has to be replaced.
Here is a link for the complete strut assembly. See the notes part.
