Hello and thanks in advance for any help. I have a 96 Trans sport. Looks like I'm having trouble with the TCC. It started with the van not starting on from time to time. I would go out half hour later and and boom car started. I could never get the car to the shop while this problem was happening. Last week it got worse and the van would not start at all. I took it in and they changed the fuel filter and sensor and problem still existed. They dropped the transmission pan and found some debris. The mechanic said he thought the problem was the TCC He disconnected it and the problem seemed better. Problem was without the TCC the van had no starting power. Seem to lag from 0 to 20 mph. After that the van ran fine gears changed etc. It was difficult having such slow pickup so we had the TCC reconnected and the van worked fine for a week. Today my wife reports the van stalled and lost power. She restarted the van and it was reving high 3000rpm in gear. I'm wondering if the TCC could be the problem. Is this loss of power normal after disconnecting the TCC? should only the A and D pin be removed??? I read that hear so I'm wondering if the mechanic removed all the pins.....PLEASE HELP this van is driving me NUTS....thanks from Toronto Canada.

THe way you describe the problem, I have doubts TCC is the issue. Nevertheless, the mechanics probably just disconnected the transmission plug
www.avigex.ca/xport/tccconnector.jpg and then car will not shift gears at all, starts in 3rd gear, and that explains why you found it to be so lazy. ANd yes, disconnecting TCC can be done by just pulling contact D or A..but then you will have CEL on all the time.
NOw I'd like to know exactly what you mean by "van not starting"...?
Starter does not crank?
Starter cranks and engine does not fire up ?
Or then...engine starts, runs but stalls?
WIth the 3000 rmp "idle", may be IAC could be the culprit. By the way...is the CEL aleady ON ? DId you have it checked for codes?
