would any one have an explanation as to why when i drive, and ocassionally hit a bump or the car bounces up or down, it feels as if the engine dies for a second, the "engine check" light comes on, and my rpms drop? It only happens for like a split second and then everything will come back to normal. The extend of my imagination would be the battery ground or cables are loose or something, but they arn't, and all other electrical things like the lights don't cut out. Possibly something is loose like wires are bad to the distributer cap or something else? The car needs a check up but still yet, if thats something i can take care of right now then i'll probably do it naturally. Any ideas/similar common problems?

I used to get the battery light come on for like a second when taking sharp right turns. But I never had a problem with the battery or alternator or any grounds. I think the harness gets stretched or something. On an old car there will naturally be electrical gremlins.

Yeah, my car does something similar..It did cut out on bumps because the ground on the thermostat was loose. But now if I take a hard bump the engine will cut out until I apply almost full throttle, then it jumps back to life until I level off the throttle..does this for awhile then stops. These cars just have weird problems.
