Ok, after a long hiatus from modeling I'm back. Last week I got a 1/4 oz color cup and it made airbrushing A LOT easier than clean cups and such. So far I only got the engine and some of the frame done. This might turn into a long progress thread too.

Airbrushed some XF-16 with X-18 on the valve cover and anything else in black.

I didn't bother with the mold line because I didn't see them and it would be covered up anyway.

Great start! Is that the original plating on the frame or did you respray it?
Looks perfect anyhow.

Thats looking good, sometimes you need to leave the aluminium plated parts alone, wont be painting my Tamiya Hayabusa frame when I build it.

Almost done with the engine, just gotta mask and paint the oil filter and add the decal. I painted the bolts with a toothpick using x-11. On the brakes, I used MICROMASK. A liquid mask, and it was way to messy for me to use. Once it dried, it was kinda hard to remove and using a knife to cut it was very hard for me. I want to wash the brakes to bring out the drilled rotors, but last time I used a wash with 91% alcohol, the paint came off. Any suggestions?

Hi D_LaMz.

Hope you're not done with the brakes yet, because they deserve a bit of drilling (both in the cooling holes and the floating rings).

Cheers!

Well I tried to bring out the drilled brakes by giving them a wash and black watercolors seem to work very well. It looks a lot dirtier that what I expected though. :)
