Hey guys. Hope you remember me! Ever since sellin my hatch and gettin an ej8, I haven't been around much. Well, yesterday I got a call from a good friend of mine who was getting rid of his '91 civic lx sedan and wanted to know if i would take it for free. I said heck yeah and now I'm back in swing planning on what to do to it. But the car does come with it's flaws. There is some rust in the back (usual) and the clearcoat is very, slightly peeling. Also, it's a stock d15b2 auto with 198k on it. Now I know it's too high in miles but I figured something. I'm actually gonna plan on fixing it up to run as far as it can go till it dies. I'm looking at this project to be a daily commuter than performance. It'll allow me to rest my '99 while I drive this. Besides, I'll have fun with it. I'm already thinking crx dash swap. Hehe! I'll post pics soon, it'll do the car justice I hope!

It's here. Went to pick it up and it wouldn't start. Turned out all it needed was some new gas so after $10 bucks later, she was running. Drove her to my friends house for about 5 miles (mind the expired license plates) and she drove really good, the engine that is. There is something up with the axles or wheels or possibly suspension cause it's really bumpy. Also the gauge cluster has clacking, sparking noise coming from, possibly just needs to be lubed. Tried out everything and everything works except for the driver side power lock switch. Amazingly, the a/c was cold. If you look at the pics, and it's hard to see the small things, the car is loadd with dents and some good rust spots. It also has the dreadful yellow headlight disease and needs some new painted hubcaps. Also look at the rear.......notice anything odd?........There is no reverse lights. I don't know how the guy got away with it but we couldn't find any hidden ones. Somehow it passed inspection like that since he's owned it. The driver seat is not ripped at all. Shocked the hell out of me. Well, it's a project and i'm back in the 4th gen swing. Feels good to be back!

Well, took the yellow headlight off today and plan on cleaning it up. Gonna try the oven trick to pulling it apart. What kind of paint should I use inside just for an idea or should I not paint? Want to get it back to the original color as the other one.
Looked at the basic things and alot needs to be replaced. luckily they're the cheap things. Spark plugs are old autolites, dizzy cap is white as snow inside, rotor is gettin burnt on the tip, dizzy is leaking oil at the bottom, air filter is dirty, etc. At least now I have a very small idea of what to start on. Once the engine is purring again, the suspension needs work cause the car bounced all over the place when I drove her home yesterday.

Headlight was cleaned up, repainted and resealed. You can't tell the difference except it's not as shiny as the opposite side. Took apart the gauge cluster to lube up the gears and found where the weird crackling, popping sound was coming from. The speedometer shaft that connects to the cable in the back was worn out and lose so it would bounce around. The needle would jump around as well. So I improvised a little. Took the speedometer out of my old std cluster, succesfully rolled the miles up to 199k to the current speedo's mileage and popped it back in. With new bulbs all around, it's lookin good, just haven't been able to test to see if the speedo wasn't harmed with my careful handling.
Buddy wanted the steering wheel for his integra which he's trying to completely turn into a honda starting with the badges and all. So I scored a free 93 teg wheel. Painted the front black lip under the hood and against the bumper to the same color of the car as i was bored towards the end of the day. Looks good in my opinion.
Now I'm going to work on the engine with the basics and I really, really want to do my first valve cover painting with the valve cover on the car. Might shave the 16 valve portion off and paint it with wrinkle black. So yeah, so far so good!

It takes all of two minutes to remove a valve cover. I've noticed this because I had to remove the covers to successfully get the spark plug socket extension to reach the plugs. Anyway, just remove the cover it takes 2 minutes. GL and post pics of your progress!

:) I actually meant I was going to paint the valve cover off the car. I worded it wrong making it seem like it would be on the car. Oops. Thanks, I'll post pics when the snow here is gone. Damn Stange Weather! One day it's 65 outside and the next theirs rain and snow.

Here are few pics I quickly shot before my camera died. Good friend of mine had a set of 13" rims sitting around from a civic he found in the junkyard and let me put them on. Not bad, but they do stick out a bit. The only problem is we have no idea what they or who made them. All is written on them is Monza 2. Any ideas.
The valves were looking good when I had the valve cover off. Vavle cover was stripped and sanded up. Really liked the semi shiny aluminum look so I put it back on.
Now the only problem is the car is starting off and on. Main Relay is probably the problem.
Also, when changing the rims, found the drivers side axle boot is broken. Took hold of the axle and I could wiggle it back and forth. This is not good and is this why when I drive the car, the wheel seems like it's wobbling very badly?
