’95 clock inop.

What’s the deal with '95 Taurus’ and their clocks? I have two ‘95’s with inoperative clocks. I did a search on the forum and found several other post where their '95 clock stopped working. The clocks on my two stopped working within the last year. I think the issue is with the headlight switch because they will illuminate or blink on and off, if I wiggle the headlight switch. When the clock does illuminate, it will usually not keep time, but will display the same time (as it constantly flashes on and off while I drive). BUT—it seems to keep time when the car is off because, if I stop the car for 1 or 2 hours, the clock will display a time 1 or 2 hours later.
Has anyone dug into this issue and found a definite cause? Are there issues with other years?

Have you pulled the clock to check the wiring or the bulb??? Personally I think Ford goofed with the clocks in these newer-gen Taurus's.. my 87 had a nice 3-button clock, time, date, and stop-timer buttons.. it's one of the first things I noticed when I checked out the 93 I bought for my son, and my 94 and 99 wagons, they could have scrimped elsewhere and gave us the loaded clock model.. I wonder if Ford realizes, or even cares, about the magnitude of this most grievous error??? What makes it worse is obviously the savings didn't go into transmission or headgasket designs...
