Open hood without release cable????

My 94 integra which I just got will not open the hood from the release cable. The cable does have some tension on it but it wont open the hood. Is there any good way to get it open without it so I can fix the cable problem?

Just brought the car to my mechanic, don't wanna fuss with it.
