I want to know if I can put a manual spline shaft in my s10 1993 2.8L 700r4 transmission to make it mate with my 1988 tpi 350 camaro engine.
thanks

get a used v8 trnny, you needs bigger rad, motor mounts, headers, lots of shit, im helping a friends put a V8 in a sonoma right now

there are some companies that make bellhousing adapters to make different combinations work. but even if you could get the mated together, that engine will eat that tranny alive in no time.

again, find a used 700R4 from something that had a V8. you'll know it came from a V8 because the tranny-to-engine (bellhousing) bolt locations are farther apart.

what happened to the 700r4 your '88 tpi had?

see thats the thing.. i want it to be manual, i have the auto in my 88 camaro right now..

so blown boy.. how much progress have you made so far in putting that in..
from what i understand i will need to purchase a manual tranny for a 350, now the sonoma is a manual so i wont need to install a clutch pedal or anything, what else will i need, will the motor mounts on the 350 bolt onto the sonoma crossmember? and will i need to get a custom driveshaft? thanks guys..

The other consideration is that the forward clutch and 3-4 clutch (already a weak point) likely have fewer clutch plates and steels, and a use spacer in the stack. This means less torque throughput before slippage and damage occurs. Using a V-6 trans behind a V-8 without some rework is risky.

so you want a manual in the s10 tiwth the 350 tpi, if so youll need another bellhousing and other shit, if its just the auto, then just find a used V8 700R4(there easy to find for like 150$)
you will need headers, these are the ones we are running

stock V8 motor mounts are in the wrong place to bolt up to the S10 crossmember like these which are what we are using

if your keeping the TPI you need to swap the comp and wiring, bigger rad(mid 80's vette aluminum is what we are going to use)

since the s10 usually comes with a 700R4 driveshaft i beleive will be fine, but dont hold me to it

also need another fuel pump most likely for the tpi, most people think it a easy swaap, but the is ALOT involved
