mod advice

hey guys, im new here, and i have a few questions. my girl is getting a g20 very soon, and asked me to help her mod it, since ive been building minis and imports for a few years. basically the plan is lower it, 18's, and the usual bolt ons, like I/H/E, underdrive pulleys, etc. then hopefully a turbo kit later. i saw the post on the Tein's but they are a bt too pricey, and we gotta remember that although i'd like to take this car GT Racing, it's hers, and she's more concered with a decent ride (not too bouncy). so what kind of struts/springs do you guys recomend, and what do you consider the best bolt ons? sorry for the long post, but im in the dark right now. lata.

CAI or a JWT Pop Chager, Cat Back Exhuast, UnderDrive Pulleys on the suspension end im still tryin to figure that out myself i talked to a guy a velocity resources he seemed to really know his shit and helped my kind of decide were to head with my suspension

yeah the JWT looked good to me. what kind of exhaust would you recommend? i dont want any of that ricey buzzy bullsht, i hate that. i want something smooth...and not too loud. damn its hard to remember that this isnt my car. lol

i have the greddy cat back no ricey sound low and mellow tip is a little big good hp gain

Konis with Ground Controls.

I have AGX with GCs on my wife's P10. It rides better than with Eibach Prokits.

As for exhaust, you might want to look at the Remus exhaust as well. It's quite excellent. Quiet with just the right tone.

i think im going to go with Ground Control springs and Koni Shocks its around 900 bucks i think dont rember the exact fiqure

how much drop are the GC's?

depends tell them what your wanting to do and the custom make them

The Ground Controls are adjustable coilovers that are used with whatever dampers you like.

i highly recommend staying with 16s or 17s. you'll pay at least 4-500 more for an 18 in set. you'll lose more power, add weight, risk bending rims, and compromise ride quality. i ran 17 inch ground controls agxs and my ride was VERY firm.

if you plan to drop a turbo in there you might as well go with a BB SR20DET. save the money from the I/H/E which will cost around roughly $1100. i dont suggest a turbo kit since it will cost a lot for the piping, FMIC, all thats needed and could just go with the actual motor.

about the FMIC piping i think i rember readin a forum about hotshot making a piping kit for are cars anyone know when its should be out and how much will it sell for?

i know what you mean about the 18's bogging down on the motor, but damn they look good IMO. we'll see which direction she chooses with the car, fast or just nice. really i think the 5 speed or automatic tranny will determine whether or not it gets 18's and whether or not it ever sees forced induction, and it's all up to her, so..... i guess we'll see what she chooses. thanks for all the help.

18's only weigh a tad more than 17's. You will not tell the powerloss
between the to. 18's add probably add about 2-4 lbs per wheel. What
year model g20 are you/her getting. I heard about problems w/ the GC. Squeaking or something like that. I thought you can't get konis for the 99+ g20's. You can get H&R springs but its hard to find struts so basically you are almost forced to get the TEIN setup.

You use the maxima rear's and the fronts from a p11 primera if you talk to koni they say they wont work but a few guys on the forum have gone with that setup go to http://www.velocityresources.com there # is on the page and talk to them about the GC with Koni's as far as 18's i think they look sweet but there's just not enough rubber its like a rubber band

very true indeed. With the maxima rear. Will it ride good. I can't really
go on that a couple people did it. It is a important investment and I don't want to screw it up. ya know!

what the guy at veloctiy resources told me is the maxama is a little longer shock i told him im only lookin to drop my car around 1 and a half to maybe 2 at most he said i should be fine he did warn me the with the GC and Koni its a stiff suspension so you do tend to get squeks im saving up for them know i email Koni and the say the maxima rear will not fit are cars are at and that they a currently in R&D for are cars the bad thing is at the same time there also workin on the new rsx and new civic so guess were we sit on there list of importance screwed again.

i look at like this i can have a car that hardly anyone were i live has and pay a little more for parts and wait a little longer to get them or i could drive a honda that you see every five seconds and get all the parts made for the car the second it comes out hondas are the most modded cars so they get catered to i will take my g over a honda any day even if it means have to custom do some of the mods because i know when i get done i will have a car few people have and if i try to show it you probaly have a better chance in winnig just for your car being orgianl go to a import car show its all acura and honda and a few nissian's and toyota and even fewer infiniti

I guess that is why I still have it. That is the only thing keeping me
from trading it in for the celica GTs. Have decided not to trade it in b/c

get into an apartment. And another thing is....I don't won't to have to mod the whole thing out just to keep up with Si civics and stock GSR's.

i can beat a civic si stock the gsr is a different story ive never ran one but you should be able to kill a stock si no prob

dont think you could beat a gsr with just that go with a BB sr20det if you really want somethin to kill hondas and acura's

wouldn't it put me close to a GSR. I would have cabout 160-165. But
then I have to compensate for tha weight difference. But we got more
torque. GSR's only have about 128lb.

depends on how you do your exhaust i got around 17 horse from a gtech meter but i did more then a catback just depends on what you do

just wanted to look at my message.

I don't know how much it will sell for. I've got to make another set of pipes for John to make jigs from. I've been meaning to let him know how many mandrel bends I need. I'll spend a weekend making up some pipes and then it depends upon when it fits into his schedule. He's not sure if the market is there for the G20, but I think it is. So, I'll let everyone know when I've sent him the pipes so you can inquire about price and availability.
