Hi Guy's, I have a Polo 1.2S - 2005, does anyone know if STP Multi-Valve Cleaner, which is designed for 16,20,24 & 32 valve engines, will do any harm or be of any benefit to use on my car.

It won't do any harm to your engine, but may only clean the valves a little bit.

Hi bluevp00, thank you for the reply.
What is the point of this stuff if it does not do that much good to engines or is it another waste of cash ?

The point is it makes STP money.
Much like 90% of the other fuel and oil additives out there.

I think that would depend.

If your a shareholder in STP, or work for them and could benifit from a sales or production based bonus scheme, then it would be a wonderful product.

If you just want to clean your valves then removing them from the head and hot dipping then machine polishing them would be far more effective. Especialy since to really see if your valves are dirty or not you need to have the head off the enigne in the first place.

If you just want to make sure you engine dosn't suffer from a build up of deposits, then take it for a long hard drive every now and then, and ensure it's well tuned and running on the right grade of fuel. Then just enjoy owning and driving it.

Thanks Moppie I get your drift, I suppose it really is just common sense at the end of the day.
