then the 4th genners come in there and just regulate with info. they dont even know there own cars. we know there cars better than they do
no offense to anyone from that forum that reads this

Who cares man?! I think thats kind of an idiotic comment to make in itself.. Think about it, you REALLY think that all 92+ Civic owners don't know jack about their own cars? You really think that people know their stuff because their car is a 4th gen!? There are a lot of guys here who don't know jack shit.

Well think about it... maybe it's not that 4th gen people automatically know more about cars just because we own 4th gens...
Maybe it's because the majority of 5th gen+ owners get more of their stuff right out of the box... there's deffinately not as much custom work needed to get new engines in their cars... also, the majority of 5th gen+ owners I know are really only concerned about the way their cars look... some of them have never even opened the hood to change their own oil.
But if you own a 4th gen, you can't really do that... putting new engines in, unless it's the same one that's SUPPOSED to go in your car, more often then not requires a major amount of wiring and perhaps other modifications... that's one example.
Now as a 4th gen owner, there are a lot of mods that can be done for our cars, but if you check your local shops (or at least around here) it seems that cost of parts and cost of installation almost doubles for 4th gens... so there again, it would make more sense for us to learn more about our cars and do our work ourselves...
Does any of that make sense?

Sure it does..
But the thing that bugs me about saying something like that about 4th gen owners knowing more about their cars then newer Civic owners is that I see so many more fucked up looking 4th gens out there than any other generation of Civic.. The majority of them out there on the road a are a disgrace. GHETTO.. Funny lights, axle back exhausts, cut springs, cheap ass rims, custom wings, and all that other ish. There are SO many more 92+ Civics out there that are made for racing, or show cars. I'm assuming that these people do know their stuff.
You think that most people out there that own a 4th gen care about it as much as a lot of you guys do? A lot of Civic owners and other Acura owners drive 4th gens and 5th gens as winter beaters. Some guys here are 25+ years old and still drive a 4th gen because they like them!
If you're talking about the O.Gs of modding Civics, a lot of them may have had a 4th gen a long time ago, but decided to move on to bigger and better things.. Wich makes sense. I know one of the guys I hang out with sometimes at the track had a ZC in his hatch like 7 or 8 years ago.. He's since moved on from 4th gens, but at the time it seemed to make the most sense to mod. But now there's 5th and 6th gens that will accept any B series motor without having to buy expensive ass mounts. 5th and 6th gens that you can modify every single part on the car.
There's nothing wrong with liking an old car I guess.. Whatever you're in to, but it by no means makes you smarter than people with newer cars just because their's is less of a pain in the ass. :p

i want to make it clear. i never said 4th gen owners know more than 5th gen owners. each owner of every different car is...well, different. you can't expect every car owner to be into speed, show, or sound. some people don't have the time to work on their car themselves...some have no money to pay to have stuff done. everyone is different.
now what i saw in the 92+ forums is a different story. i'll just quote myself from another thread:
i don't know much about the 92+ forum. i just went in there for the first time the other day. but i do know i'll just stick to here. i (a 89 owner) had to explain to them (92+ owners) the difference between z6 and y8. i looked around more and saw a whole bunch of bad info mixed with childish bickering i say the next person who complains about the 88-91 forum should be banned to the 92+ forum for a week as punishment....
i hear people complaine all the time up in here about off-topic and some reoccuring debates (like d vs. b series or vtec vs. non). at least i can say our ot's and debates are supported by real facts and valid pieces of information. every now and again you will see a reply in a thread with the wrong info...but that person is quickly corrected.

thanks ami, i couldnt have said it better myself. having to explain the difference in the z6 to the y8, to people that own the motor is really bad.
also i am not saying that 4th gen owners know more about there 4th gen, then 5th gen owners know about there 5th gen. i am sayin that 4th gen owners know more about 5th gens, than the 5th gen owners do.
i feel like a genius when i go post in that forum. i mean i posted in the 92+ forum about a timing belt. no one even said anything about having to worry about breaking internals. they said like, oh if you wait till it breaks then its gonna cost you more to fix the timing belt because then its a must that you replace it. wtf
baka

I went into the 5th gen forum once, looking for info when I was going to replace my EX. I asked something like what's the best bet for a budget with future options down the road, expecting an answer like a DX Sedan or a DX Hatch only one person said my best bet was a 95 EX Coupe.
If I could afford a car with vtec I would have one... :toothless
Now my post debating hatch v/s CRX for a 4th gen replacement I got a ton of response on it. And some of you have actually talked me into keeping my EX just for the simple fact that sedans rule
