Windshield wiper problem

2000 Town & Country........the windshield wipers don't work on the normal 'ON' setting, only when you press the washer, then they work fine.

A local shop replaced the motor and the multi-function switch, still don't work on 'ON'. They still only work on the wash function. They messed with it half a day and gave up.

Anyone know what the problem could be??

Thanks in advance

1. Do they work if you put them past the intermittent to the High Speed position?
2. When they do work with the washer, do they park correctly when they finish?

I am assuming the wipers don't work in any position except wash. Sure don't understand the logic of changing the wiper motor if the wipers work when you press wash. Plus it's so easy to eliminate the motor as the problem using a multimeter. Stay away from these mechanics. It appears they don't have a clue!

If they didn't already, you could try a new "wiper on relay" or just reseat it and see what happens. Second choice would be the "wiper high low relay". Beyond that you'll need a multimeter and a schematic to troubleshoot the rest of the circuit and wiring. The only other component would be either the Front Control Module or Body Control Module or both. Not sure how a 2000 is configured. These would be last resorts as they cost several hundred dollars.

I'll look into the relays. The vehicle actually belongs to a friend of a friend......I don't know if I really want to get too involved. Any more than passing on the info, you know. I've gotten into too many of these deals that backfire when you're in knee deep already.

I do appreciate the info though.
