I have a 99 GT. Was doing some P.M.s on it and notice some cracks in my serpentine belt. When should one be replaced and are they a pain to change? Thanks for the help. p.s. It has A 3.8 no S.C.

Depending on how many miles you have on your current drive belt, small cracks in the underside of your belt are acceptable/normal, however, if you're missing two or more adjacent ribs an half an inch or longer or have lengthwise cracks and/or missing pieces, this is "Unacceptable" and should be replaced.
Hope this helps.

I used a Gatorback belt on mine. One key is get an extension pipe to slide over your ratchet handle to gain more leverage. That will make the job a lot easier, trust me.

hey man back at the shop i use to work at the manager said the max till replacement was 6 cracks per inch. when i did mine i must have had like 500 cracks per inch with 90k on it i assume it was original.

for replacement its actualy quite easy. like he said use a 15" or so long pipe and put it on the handle of the ratchet because you REALLY gotta crank on it for the install. also to make it easier put it on the main crank pulley(the big one at the bottom) first the work your way up because otherwise its to tight of a squeeze to try and work down there when the belt is that tight
