99 Alero constantly broken, especially wheels!

First off, I'm not even going to pretend to be automotively literate.

I've had my 99 alero 6-cylinder for just over two years. In that time, I have had..

-The front right wheel sensor break 3 times - is there a way to waterproof the wiring or something? (120ish each time, no labour)
-The fan speed resistor replaced
-The windshield replaced ($300ish)
-Two tires re-sealed ($50ish total) - aluminum rims suck.
-Two tires replaced ($370) - And now that rubbing sound is gone, awesome.
-The rear view mirror fell off in the heat - ($4)
-The side mirror is cracked - does anyone know how to get just the glass replaced? the dealer keeps trying to sell me the whole unit and have it custom painted to match my custom paint job
-The piece of molding along the edge of the trunk around the latch broke off
-The remote started doing weird things, then died
-The alternator died - expensive, but don't remember how much

and that doesn't even include the plastic licence plate mount, which costs $50, which has been crushed three times, twice this month. (parking on campus is at your own risk for a reason)

When I park my car, i have to drive over a small curb. Do you think that repeatedly driving over this bump is aggravating the sensor problem? I also have "mag rims" (or so the dealer tells me, i have no freakin clue), which are wide open, could this be letting moisture into the sensor and wiring?

It's just the nature of the car. The sad thing is that GM wonders why people don't want to pay $25k for a new car. Better buy a foreign car since their mostly American made these days.
