72 mark iv bearings

Could anyone give me instructions on greasing the front bearings on my 72 mark iv. and give me some locations of grease fittings so i dont miss any.

There are grease fittings on the front steering linkage, at most or all pivot points. Get under the car, and have someone move the steering wheel from side to side. Pretty much every part that moves should have a grease fitting on it, including all 4 ball joints, 2 tie rod ends, the pitman arm and the entire drag link.

Also, the drive shaft may have 2 or 4 grease fittings, depending on if it has 2 or 4 (double cardan style) U-joints.

As for wheel bearings......... you normally repack them whenever you install new front brakes. This is an important safety related job and should not be done unless you really know what you are doing.
However, try here for info. Some sites discuss trailers, but the basic theory and procedure is basically the same.

thanks for the info, ill check it out. i didnt realize that packing the bearings would be so complicated. the only reason i want to check them, is the last time i drove the car up the street, the front left bearing had a hum to it. but the car has been sitting pretty much since 1988. so i know everything HAS to be greased. and it wouldnt hurt to check the bearings.
