The leaking top thing is a very common problem. Mine leaks, but I only drive it on the weekends in the summer, so it doesn't matter. There are fixes for the leaking top.....everything from spending thousands on a new top and all new seals, to cleaning the drain tracts and waterproofing the top. As for the hinge, I'm not sure what you are talking about. I'm guessing that the secondary bow wasn't moving back with the top and bending one of the side arms?

If so, that is another common problem that can be fixed in about an hour for about $20.

Did you check your wheel well for something catching on the tire?

Another thing you have to remember, is that you bought an 8 year old car and probably inherited someone else's problems. It might take a little to get things straightened out, but you will love the car when you do. :) Is it a GS-T or a GS?

DSM = can be unreliable if they were not taken care of, like any other car

spyderturbo007 is right, your inherited an 8 year old car. It is going to have SOME problems, but so far I haven't seen you list any there were hugely critical. Plus, it's a convertible. You should always expect more problems with convertibles.

welcome to the forums.

As for that bow not going back correctly they sell a kit on ebay for 99 bucks that fixes it. It's great. You could also make something to pull that bow back with like chains (there is a website on it somewhere).

To fix the leaky top try these first!
Clean it with some soap and water and a scrub brush (lightly!).
Clean all the seals and then armor all them.
Make sure the latches at the front close tightly. If not you can tighten them up.
If the back window leaks and you don't want to replace the top clean it out with a tooth brush in the crack and then put some silicone around the window on teh outside (all the way around).

Mine still drips from the corners but it's not bad. I bought a replacement top for 400 bucks but it takes a while to put a new one on. I did one on my old spyder but havn't attempted it for the second time on this new spyder yet.

Wheel bearing. If you jack up that corner of the car, put one hand on the top the tire, other hand on the bottom and try to rock it back and forth. If there's movement, its the wheel bearing. Its happened to me before and I ended up just changing the whole wheel hub assembly, I'm on my 3rd one now, lol.

Wow that was lame. Shpyder you lose points for that one. :disappoin
But your problem does sound like the hub though. Go get that fixed or take it to a shop and have them check it out to see what they think. A suspension shop is the best place to go for something like that. They'll know.

Do NOT do this. Putting Armor-All on rubber will work for awhile, but eventually it will dry it out. They sell a silicone lube that you put on door/window seals to keep them hydrated so they don't dry out and crack. I'm can't remember what it's called cause mine is at the farm, but I'm pretty sure any autoparts store will carry it. It comes in a little can and had a screw-on lid with a little brush attached to the lid and you just lightly brush it on.

Wow that was lame. Shpyder you lose points for that one.

I think he was drunk....look at the time.

my bad I didn't realize armor all woudl do that. I do that to my top all the time. perhaps I should stop and just continue with cleaning them regularly.

thanks all for the info im gonna grab the silicone stuff today. I checked out all the tires and discovered that the problem is a cupped tire. Im gonna get an alinement and try to grab some new tires and see how it works out.

It was meant to be funny :cwm27: , hence the [dirtbag pick-up lines, idiotic attempt to impress, & abuse of power #1] HTML tag. Now if we had a MILF surf AF, then I'd be in trouble.

Do MILFs even surf forums? Hmmm... I'll have to look into that.
