I am debating between the first and second generation b16a. I know that the first generation is alot cheaper and there isnt any difference in horsepower. Although the reason I like the b16 is because of its buildability and the good parts they have for it. I want to get a vortech supercharger(because it adds the most hp) but if I was to buy the first generation b16a would the supercharger for the 99-00si fit on my motor or for that do I have to buy the 2nd generation motor. Basically what I am asking is can the 1st and 2nd generation b16's share the same parts.

Most B series VTEC engine parts are interchangable. I do believe that a supercharger for the 6G Si will work on either JDM 1st or JDM 2nd Gen B16s. There is a horsepower difference between the JDM 1st gen B16 and the JDM 2nd Gen B16. JDM First gen B16 (sometimes called SiR I) made 160 crank horsepower...unless you got one off of an automatic integra XSi/RSi..then it makes 150-155hp. The JDM 2nd Gen B16 (sometimes called SiR II) had 170 crank horsepower. hope that helped :)

ok thanks so they can interchange and the horsepower is farely similar so which would i be better off to buy the 1st generation(cable clutch) or the second generation(hydro clutch) be honest money isnt too much of an issue

If money isn't a real issue, then if i was you I would get the JDM 2nd Gen B16 w/ the Y21 or S21 hydraulic trans w/ the optional LSD. Your car already is equipped with a hydraulic trans, so take advantage of it and get the better hydraulic trans (they are stronger and are also less prone to grinding due to worn synchros like their cable predecesors). You will be getting 170hp w/ something like 126ft/lbs. of torque.... instead of 160hp and 111ft/lbs of torque if you got the JDM 1st gen B16. They make a conversion kit to use a cable clutch if your car previously had a hyrdraulic transmission....but since you said money isn't really too much of an issue....definately go w/ the JDM 2nd gen B16 like I said before. just my two cents, tho :)

why not go for a B16B Civic Type R :) since you are already assuming money is not a problem. 185 hp
