Cars broke

Well my car just broke down on me. Got a big radiator leak somewhere, can't find where it is, because all the anitfreeze hits the fan and flys everywhere. Also while I'm driving my car starts backfiring and usually dies on me, it will only keep running if i slam on the gas pedal and hold it there for awhile. can anyone think of what the problem could be?

gonna be sitting at my house for a while, till tuesday or wednesday, then going to be hauled down to my dads to hopefully be fixed soon.

is coolant still getting thru the engine?

get a new radiator. second sounds like your not getting the fuel you need because you gotta keep adding fuel to keep it going. maybe try fuel injection cleaner and a new fuel filter. keep us posted on your car after you try this stuff.

Well the radiator didn't start leaking till yesterday after I was adjusting my clutch. Thought I might have knocked a hose off. I will see if my dads shop can find out what is wrong with it, then I'll probably fix it.

I'm thinking its probably my fuel filter is the problem with the car dying, cause it should be the fuel injectors cause I usually keep injector cleaner in it all the time. Hopefully it shouldn't be anything major and able to fix it in a day or so.

you better fix that radiator QUICK!!!

no coolant in your engine makes it heat up and aluminum heads are WELLKNOWN to crack and warp under heat.

sounds like that is the problem with mine, just going to get someone to look at it to make sure. Not driving it any until it gets fixed, just been riding my skateboard to work and I got a friend that goes to the same classes as me, so don't have a problem there either.

your pic don't work. I got anti freeze all under my hood and everywhere else. thinking its the hose on the bottom of my radiator because that was the one I was messing with when I adjusted my clutch. Now for the fuel, I think its probably the fuel filter. Just still getting a second opinion.

Hey, maybe have the fuel filter checked out.

Alright, well found out what is wrong with my radiator, gotta leak on one of the brackets for the little plastic tube from the stock intake, its about 1" to 1 1/2" long. Bout to put some quik steel on it and hopefully take it to a salvage yard and get a new radiator.

I'm also about to get a new fuel filter to put on it, just gotta find a ride to the store. Only 1 of my friends has a vehicle that runs right now. Kinda sucks.

You might want to check inside the distributor cap to see if it got wet from the leak in the radiator.
Sometimes electrical problems can "appear" to be fuel related.

Just a thought!!!

I was thinking something along that line. Didn't think my fuel filter just happened to go out at the same time as the radiator leak. Gonna check that before I spend 150 bucks on a new fuel filter.

Geez....what is that fuel filter made of...gold????;) It shouldn't be that much for a new fuel filter. I got one from the honda dealer for 15 bucks.

I thought the dealer was always a lot higher than the part stores. I was thinking that was high though.

Got the radiator leak fixed for now, about to go get a different one. Can get a used one for 40 bucks and a new one for 100 bucks. Also, there is nothing wrong with my fuel filter, just got some anti freeze on it.

Alright, car is fixed. Got a new radiator put in it. Just happened to be a 1"-1 1/2" crack in the top of it. No fuel filter problem or anything.
