GM surprises with 3.7% gain; Ford sales drop 13.4%

General Motors surprised industry watchers today by posting a 3.7 percent gain in U.S. sales for February, even as it said sales to rental fleets dropped 18 percent in the month from a year earlier. And rival Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.
