:banghead: Ive been doing some searching but really havent come up with an answer. 97 Grand am, 3100 GT 4 door. What are some fixes for slow windows. I am going to replace a window motor this week and want to know if theres anything you can/should do to get the windows to go up/down faster? I know my rear windows are freakin slow and am willing to rip of the door panel if I have to be able to speed them suckers up! Please help, once again, THANKS!
I know a grease isn't a good choice but do they make anything for this?

If they move I would say the motors are working fine.
They may be slow because they need some lube on the slides sides and guides.
Most autoparts stores should carry this lubricant.

I doubt that the GA has this same issue but, I used this kit (http://www.autotrix.net/) to repair a slow window in my TA, maybe they can help you

Two things could be of issue..
Mechanical or electrical. .
Mechanical meaning the tracks are in need of lubricant or repair.. I spray silicone in the tracks on mine and run my little finger up the track to smear it around, that helps alot for me..
Electrical can be a bit more complex. If all your windows are slow it may be the source power to the system. A connection gets hot and raises resistance and starves the motor for power.
I have heard of a connector in the driver door just past the hinge getting hot and failing. If its the souce for the other windows, which in most cars it is because it allows the disabling window lock switch to cut power to the other windows.
A good way to somewhat check for the difference is watching the voltage or headlights.. If the headlights dim when running the motor it's more likely mechanical. If it doesnt, more proubably electrical.

Its been awhile since ive had a working window but I think that I did notice a dim in lights when I used the window, but I cant remember....Ill have to go to a local automotive store and see what kind of lube:grinno: would work the best for the tracks. I figure if im going to do one job (changing window motor) then I might as well go the whole nine yards. I guess Im leary about some lubricants because I dont wont them to collect dust and grime and get even slower down the road. But thanks for the ideas.
As far is that kit for the trans am. Anyone else use something like this? how easy is it to do? are they made for grand ams also? Just a thought for down the road maybe. thanks!

Sorry, I did not mean to intimate that they were, but merely to give some ideas of what can cause similar conditions as well as another source to go to in an effort to alleviate the afore mentioned issue.
