R & R of accessory lighting

I am looking at buying a 2002 Lesabre and the current owner says that a couple of the back lit controls on the steering wheel are not working. Are all of those lights in a cluster or induvidual? Can a novice replace them or is it best left to the dealer?

There is also a light behind the AC controller that is out. Same question.
