tranny problem

i have a 94 lumina apv, when driving today i was taking off got into second gear heard a clunk think it downshifted into first it speed up from downshifting then. Went about a 100 ft, then quit moving all together. Stopped put it in park then in gear again and all i have is 1st gear no matter where i put the gear selector, and there is also a noise now coming from the front end like something is rubbing while driving or idling, hope some one can help me

Check your cable on your tranny to see if it has come loose, also look where your cable connects to the tranny maybe the brackets broke or needs adjusted.
