i have a 2002 trailblazer ls and last night this noise started. when i brake my front end is making a skeaking, growling noise it sounded like i was having break problems so today i took it to the garage. they serviced my front brakes (that there was nothing wrong with), they oiled the upper and lower ball joints, and oiled any other part that could be oiled. the truck is still making this nosie and they are now telling me that it is my right sided ball joint and now they want to take it out and replace it. this truck only has 52 000 km on it to me it sounds like dried out springs or something along the line of that does anyone have any ideas what this could be or has anyone had a simalar problem?

There is nothing to be greased on the front end (no grease fittings/zerks). I'd have a reputable shop check the front end for a wheel bearing, ball-joint, tie rod end or stabilizer bar end link issue. Any of these could be a problem on a 2002.

well i went to another shop who have me a second opion that I need a new right sided ball joint, i replaced the ball joint and the nosie was still there. After many hours of different things being done they greased my bussings on my sway bar and the noise went away. after a few days the noise did come back so tommorow the truck is going in to have them replaced. It cost around $500.00 but the noise is gone

MIne does this too, only when coming to a slow stop though. Do you have weird tire wear in front? I suspect it is the struts on mine. I have about the same mileage as you and my tire wear is normal. If there were weird wear patterns on the front tires I would suspect other components. I have zero vibration at speeds in excess of 90 mph and no drifting either. This is why I suspect it to be struts on mine. OBTW, I don't have unusal front end bounce either. I have heard of the upper stuts being greased, however it would be easier to just replace them with a good quality strut from the aftermarket.

I finally found out what the noise was they thought that mine might have been struts to but it wasnt. the nosie was the lower control arm mounting brakets (apparently the rubbers are rubbing against steel) I live in Canada and the parts are 311.00 each plus approx 2 hours to put them in.

I do have a bit of wierd tire wear on the front due to this but at this point it is very minimal
