Dremmels, and other tools??....

My dad wants to get a dremel now for cuttin our dogs toenails:huh: ... anyways, he wants me to find one so I can use it for my models too, just wondering what u guys use and how helpful they are with customizing and stuff... my dad decided this after i cut myself while cutting out the back seat of my ITR to make way for the custom sub and amp enclosure....hehehe.

Any help, and suggestions are much appreciated!

I just recently went out and got a dremel, it was like $70 US I think. I love it, and use it for everything. I use it on all of my models. I had to cut my intake on my real car, hacked right through that aluminum piping, those things are beats and yet so versatile when it comes to small projects. Definately worth the money. :)

I have a dremel multipro, and it is the handiest tool that I have. I use it all the time, not just on my models but on the car too. I used it to en-large the holes in the car for speakers (I had to fit 6x9's), I used it to polish the wheel trims also.

I strongly suggest you buy one, and log on to www.dremel.com for all the things that you can use it for.

I have 2 Dremel type tools,aWeller and a Ryobi with a speed control
and they are great for modeling!
They are just as dangerous as a knife,I was using it to cut pieces of
small square plastic strips with a 1" circular blade and it got caught and jumped out and caught my finger,it went halfway through the bone before I knew what happened.:bandit: Mike

I used to use a huge dremel with was used for shaving tires, cleaning paint and polishing parts, however, when i got into modeling, I quickly foun this was too big so I got a dremel mini mite I think its called.

They're well worth the investment, use mine often and i would like to get hold of a variable transformer to slow it down further when grinding plastic.

i would strongly advise getting the guard attachment for it too, those cut off discs scare the shit out of me coz they're really brittle and its like waiting for a bomb to go off when u use them.

Poor dog may I suggest toe nail clippers from a pet store. :eek:

I think you live in Calgary, Alberta and if you do go to Costco. There is a blister pack with the Dremel tool and goodies. I forgot the price but it's over $100 Canadian. Well there's Costco locations across North America. So you will have good luck finding one.

juz dun get the cordless, i regret buying that thing. everytime i'm working on something the battery died: :mad: and everytime i was like i should of bought the one with the cord!

i Love my dremel i can cut chassis enlarge wheels wheels and smooth out body work(bondo). i have the pencil adapter for easier handling and it can get in tight spaces.

you made the battery develop a memory if you charged after every use. i charge mine after the battery is totaly dead i also keep another one to keep the work going

thanks a lot you guys, especially Mr Mario, youre right, im from calgary and Costco sounds like a great idea... if somethin ever goes wrong i can just take it back.

I went looking for a dremel the other month at Homebase(big diy superstore, don't know if they're an international company or not) and after seeing that they cost £45 upwards depending on which you get, wasn't going to bother but then I noticed their 'own-brand' stuff they do a kit it's variable speed comes with cutting-discs, mini circular saw discs, drill bits, grind stones, polishing mops and various other goodies and only costs £19.99!! Only downside is you have to buy a sanding drum, but the dremel one fits perfect!
