has anyone added after market AC? if so, what were the problems and or how did it work. Any noticable performace problems on our older engines??

Any imput would help. After 190,000 miles, im thinking about adding it. It never had it to begin with.

I am working on the beginings of a total restoration and I don't think I can go without a/c another year in the desert.

Let me know your aftermarket AC experiences...

thanks all.

To stay cool you will have to us a few extra horses to run a air condition system.
But on a truck V8 no problem.
I have not been around dealer air or add on for a while.
But the last ones I saw were very nice and worked good.
You have to look close to tell them from factory air.
The labor to install them is expensive.
If you can do it yourself you can save about half the cost on them.
They make add on kits or you could go to the bone yard and take one off of a truck that has one on it.
Check around with your parts places or AC repair shops
Here is a link that could help and should have add on kits.

thanks for the link..and info.

this last week, i have been pricing out the add-on systems..it's painfully expensive and does not make sense to add to my old ride. She was born without ac..she will have to stay that way..

thanks again

You are welcome.
I have not added one for a long time.
Keep your eyes open for a bone yard truck with AC on it.
Good luck.
