hi, i was looking at infinity kappa ( 2 ohm) and i was was wondering that would make it a 2 ohm load to each channel if 1 is wired to each channel right ( yea i know dumb question)

That would be correct.

So a 2 channel amp, and 2 infinity kappa 2ohms one on each channel yes that would be right. Same concept on a DVC.

is the sub dual voice coil, if it is the only options you can get out of one is 1 or 4 ohm, if there are two of them you can get .5,2,8 ohm

Or you can get a 4 channel amp and wire each coil to one channel. you dont have to always use a mono amp for subs, its not always the best in some cases you can draw less current and not make the amp work as hard wiring stuff up in bridged 4 ohm on a 2 channel amp.

mono amps may not always be the best, but class D are a lot more efficient and they are mostly monobloc amps

^^^ once again thank you paul

But you also dont alwasy need the most efficient amp, obviously you would want a class d if your going to be running 1k watts or more, but in most cases like mine where i only need 300 for each sub, im not going to worry about the efficiency of the amp. There are a lot of possibilites for wiring to diffrent loads for different amps, he could use a mono amp thats stable to 1ohm, a 2channel amp thats stable to 4ohm bridged or a 2 channel or 4 channe amp that has each channel capable of handling 2 ohms. Of course you dont have to worry as much about matching gains if you use a mono amp or a 2-channel compared to a 4 channel. BUt in this case a 4 channel amp that puts out 150rms @ 2 ohm would put that to each coil for either 2 or 4 subs. Theres alot of options when doing any of this.

I try to educate you guys, make you think a little. I think an informed consumer makes much better choices, it makes good comapnies shines and shady ones, well ......

I am saying if people stay away from "flea market" brands, they might start to disappear. Even the cheaper brands must have some type of quality standards to survive.

is soundstream a flea market brand?

i thought stormstream or something like that is

pimprolla112

Soundstorm is one, never thought soundstream would be one.

PaulD

no, soundstream is a mainstream company ...... I am not sure how we got off the path here. There are a number of active threads about should I buy this or that. I am just trying to get people to think about what a quality product is really worth. There are some things to consider when buying an amp besides watts per dollar.

Il agree with you paul thats why zapco, JL, cadence and all the other highly respected audio companys have amps that cost in excess of 400-500 for a small amp for speakers. I cant afford to get the extremely expenisve stuff, so i kind of stick to the stuff thats in the middle. I just ordered my new one so i can get rid of the profile, i still have 2 other ones lol ive been through alot of systems. But i got an autotek MM75.4, which is going to be used for my speakers but till i get the door pods made then im going to get a MM1000.1D. I might be at about 1200-1500 when i get everything straight.

yea here for me i aim for stuff like jl and others but i only have a part time job cause i am only a senior in hs so i might look for the best must get the good stuff.

but i might just break down and get the black 1000/1 cause i am a sucker for the black slash series

i wouldn't have painted them beause the case acts as the heat sink

actually the fins on the top and bottom of those amps act as heatsink, not to mention airbrush and a little bit of clear isn't goin to throw that amp off

back in the day (late 80's - early 90's) most people painted their amps to match or compliment the car paint scheme. I doubt it would seriously effect the cooling, most amps are painted or anodized anyway.

I like the old PPI art series before they where directed.

IT cant be that bad for it, but there is an idiot down here that had started ceramic coating everything in his engine bay with some rattle can crap. He thought it would be a good idea to put 3 coats on one of his rockford amps, that he had under his seat. Well needles to say the amp never stayed on for longer than 10 min after that.

Thats true but i dont think something made to contain heat is good in a case when its something that can put out a lot of heat.
