Worth Repairing?

I have a Grand Prix 2000 GT with 122K miles. It leaks a small amount of oil & steering fluid (not much, need to top off each about once a month) Estimates for repair are $450 for new oil pan replacement & $650 for new rack.

Need to either get fixed or get rid of car. Landlork won't let me park in the lot with the leaks & street parking is not an option where I live.

Is it foolish to invest this money into a car with this type of mileage? Car is in decent condition otherwise. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

fix her up 122k isnt that much if u know someone with a gerage u could doo the oil pan yer self very easy and i dont see the pan being that expesive and just have a shop do the rack but 1100 bucks is still cheaper than a new car

yea, my car is dripping anti freeze, so in the spring me and my grandfather are doing the intatke gaskets. mines got 111,600k miles, so....and im not getting rid of mine

I've got 322,000 miles on mine, so it would be worth it to me. Glad I didn't junk mine at those low miles.

Check out my sig - I've had good success with GPs. That said, it might be worth it to you to trade or private sale the car, and take the proceeds plus the $1,100 and upgrade to a newer one.

I agree with Jason. Fix the car. You didn't say anything about having other difficulties with the car. I am assuming you are driving a car that has been fairly reliable. Seems to me you need to give her (the car) a little TLC. Do the easy repair, the oil pan and farm out the rack & pinion job to a shop. Good luck.
