I have a 1996 302 from an explorer. I have transplanted it into an 83 jeep cj7.
My question is, can I use the e.f.i. in my jeep? I was told that I would have to use the steering colum, tranny,in dash wiring etc. from the explorer for the e.f.i. to work.(Is this true?) I do have the comp. and engine harness. Painless Wiring has an e.f.i harness for engine swaps. Thanks.

If the donor Explorer had the PATS system, then you will need to have the PATS computer and programmed transponder keys to use the original PCM.
I have not researched this, so I'm not sure to the feasibility, but you may be able to pull the electronics from a late 80's Mustang 5.0L since that would have been the same basic engine without the PATS system.

Wow! Nothing like interracial! Your user name is 89chevy and you want to put a 302 in your jeep. I guess you're not predjudist. He he.

Yeah I do consider myself a chevy guy, but I didn't want to put a 350 in my jeep. I do like the 5.0 it runs great!!
