I have a 95 APV 3.1. I have raw fuel leaking into my catalytic converter. I have changed plugs, wires, MAP sensor. I will be changing my o2 sensor today. Is there only one sensor or is there two? I can only see one. I need help quickly. I got a new converter after changing plugs and wires thinking that would solve the problem and it didn't. I don't want to ruin another converter. Before I changed the converter I got a code 33. After I changed it there are no codes. Baffled and confused.

No ideas huh??? Okay..I changed the O2 sensor and now I get a code 45....MAF sensor...Going to change that today.

should only be 1 o2 you need special socket to change that beacause of the wire comining out of it the socket has a slit in it 4 the wire..you can get them at autozone if you don't have 1...and the converter you might have a injecter leaking down but are you sure no gas line leak?..good luck

I am sure there is no gas line leak. I replaced the O2 sensor already and now I get a code 45 and my book says it is the MAF sensor. The converter is still getting red at the beginning of the converter, it used to be the whole thing. Going to replace the MAF sensor today and see what happens.

I went to get a MAF sensor today and found out that my van doesn't seem to have one. So now I am back to square one. According to my book it says, "Possible rich or leaking injector, high fuel pressure or faulty TPS or MAF sensor. Also, check the evaporative charcoal canister and its components for the presence of fuel. Replace the oxygen sensor". I have already replaced the O2 sensor, it doesn't seem to have a MAF because it is throttle body (or so I was told by the guy at Autozone). What does fuel in the canister mean?? TPS is only 24.99...should I just keep going or give in and take it to a mechanic???

have you taken it to a muffler shop to see if converter is pluged? sounds like it is by coverter being red hot..

45 is O2 reading rich.

There is no MAF sensor with this 3.1..only a MAP sensor..manifold absolute pressure, and probably not related to your problem, specially if code 33 is not recurring. Nor is TPS.
THere is a real possibility that one of the two injectors in the throttle body is blocked open. I've seen it and it throws a lot of fuel. I'm not sure if they can be disconnected one at a time but if this is possible I'd try it, one after the other. NOrmally if you can position yourself above the throttle body, you can see the fuel that is injected at key on..1 sec. and if blocked, it would inject longer and keep injecting as soon as fuel pump runs during starting, and you would see. Better yet, to test easily, I'd bypass the fuel pump relay to run the pump (engine not running nor starting) and see if an injector leaks..which it should not .

Okay...check this out. I stopped and bought a bottle of injector cleaner at the store yesterday, filled the tank and so far I have driven about 50 miles. I checked for codes today and there were none. Code 45 no longer comes up and the converter doesn't get red. I guess it was a the fuel injector after all. Go figure!!!!!

Guess what!!! The converter got red this morning and code 45 is back once again. Any suggestions????
