Question about stock Bose system in.....

Hey everyone thanks for reading. I own a 2002 Infiniti I35, it has the stock bose system with a front loading cd changer. It is busted now and says "CD error F3". If you know what that is please do tell. I spoke to a technican at the dealership and said Im scewd and they only change those units out for new ones. So instead of spending the $350 to replace that one I am considering a AFTERMARKET one. My delema is that I keep hearing that a aftermarket head unit is dangerous to my bose speakers? It is ironic because I know people who have no trouble what so ever with aftermarket units and stock speakers in very similar models of nissan/infiniti. If anyone knows some good knowledge please right back thanks!:screwy:

The Bose speaker cannot differentiate the signal source (model name). However, if the specs that Bose has been built to stand are exceeded, theres a possibility to break em. So u have to find a unit that doesnt exceed (amp)/speaker capacity.

I guess all (?) Bose speakers have inbuilt amplifier. This means that the std bose unit sends low signal which is amplified in the bose speaker assy. This amplifier input cannot 'take' the already amplified signal given out by std aftermarket units, but drops dead.

Amplifier(s) can be easily bypassed by solderin speaker wiring from player directly to the speaker(s). This allows using 'any' std aftermarket player. Check out first the speaker wattage (W) and impedance (4ohm -or- 8ohm) and buy a player unit that has equal/lower W and equal/higher impedance.

Hopefully you havn't had to replace all the speakers yet, hah. It is possible
and very easy if you've ever replaced a deck before. The an "OEM Integrated Amplifier v.4" 1995 + and a 1988 - 1994. All it takes is some crimping and tuning, it brings the 4ohm signal coming from a normal deck to 1, then the amps right before the speakers re-amplify it. Mine sounds great with a visonik 2 10" ported sub.:)

Two years ago I bought a repaired Bose unit on ebay from XW1600. He guarantees them for 30 days, and is much cheaper than the dealer. I also mailed him my old radio and he paid me via paypal for it.
