Seat Cordoba WRC

Not a recent build but I was playing around with my camera and thought I would post a few pictures of this one.It's the Racing 43rd kit (1/24th scale) of the Seat Cordoba WRC built straight from the box.

I've just completed an overhaul on my modelling workspace,moving into the small spare bedroom.It's the first time I've had my own 'place' to build my models.My friend made me the table and my stuff fits on it nicely.I'm hoping to start a new Formula One build soon.I'm just having difficulty deciding on which one.

That's a nice and clean build of a rarely seen WRC car.
I like it a lot.

Nice car, but are the lights decals?

Awesome work. I have an affinity for the lesser-known WRCars, and I hope to build all of them eventually. I already have a Red Bull Skoda Fabia, I just need an Octavia and a Cordoba, and everything else (Except the new C4) is available in plastic somewhere.

M-Tuning:
That silver part of the headlights on the inner portions are on the real car, looks like some sort of aesthetic reflector or something.

that looks great, makes a change from the Scooby's, Pugs & Evos we are all used to. Cracking job too, pretty rare model as well, did you pay much for it?

and by the way... your desk looks far too clean though ;-) - mine looks like a backdrop from a paintball target range!

Steve you did a great job !

My brother built the Safari version, but the kit was really poor, no safari stuff, no brakes, no suspensions...
He added everything from unused Tamiya parts and I scratched the schnorkel for him (still not finished BTW...)

He told me that the roll cage was a real nightmare, nothing well sized and fitting, was it for you, too ?


You modelling desk is very clean, don't know if it's especially for the photo :icon16: but mine most look like a battle field after a nuclear explosion ! :evillol:

Nice model Steve (as ever).

Some nice photos too. If your camera allows you to, try a higher aperture number setting (smaller aperture) to control the DOF. This will allow you to have the full car in focus. You will need to increase the shutter speed though in order to balance it out. On some of mine I use anything from 3 to 10 second exposures... so a tripod is essential.

In terms of the next F1 car, I'd love to see you tackle the paint job on the B188 :) I have that in my cupboard and would love one of your WIPs to reference when I come to do it. I was reading (more accurately looking at the pictures) a copy of F1 Modelling that has a few pages on the B188 only last night. Once you get past the paint job, it is actually a beautiful car.

The rear lights are decals but otherwise it builds into a really nice model and they don't detract from the overall look too much.

is there any chance you can show us more detailed pictures of your spray booth.

If I can work out how it comes apart I'll post a few images of the fan in the general modelling section for you.

The model I built was generally very good regards to fit etc.There wasn't many parts though and I remember the bodyshell took a lot of cleaning up to get ready for the paint.The desk is so clean because I haven't used it yet.Once I start building models on it,it will be covered in paint etc in no time.

I think you could be right.Now I've looked at the model and considered various ways of completing the paintwork,I don't think the paintjob will be too hard.The way the parts are broken down in the kit certainly simplifies it a lot.Right now I'm still undecided which kit to make next.I'm thinking either Williams FW11,Benetton B192 or the B188.I might just end up pulling one out of the hat.

Whichever you decide to build, you cant go wrong with those three.

I enjoyed the FW11 build immensely. Some finished photos are on my web-pages here (http://web.mac.com/wpinnington/iWeb/Models/). I have a few reference photos of the engine bay which I'd be happy to share with you if you PM me.

I have the B192, Formula Perfect Manual and S27 decals, so I am all raring to go on a B192 build myself. Davesans build has really whetted my appetite.

The only thing that concerns me on the Benetton B188 is the join line on the monocoque where the front suspension arms fit in.Should it be a join line? If not how do I fill the line and make it smooth when I have to fit the suspension parts first? If I can work that out I may have a go at it.
