AC blowing cold??

I recently had my AC serviced with a brand new compressor and orfice tube and accumulator. Cost near 1000$ and the damn thing DOES not blow ice cold. I live in Louisiana and out in a 95 degree summer day, the AC will not cool down my truck. Seems to me like I got ripped off. I put thermometer in the vent to see how cold it was blowing and it read 55. Is this as cold as they blow, or is there something I need to check or do to make it blow colder?

You don't mention the year of your vehicle, but last year my father-in-law, Grumpy, had a similar issue with the new AC on his 92 Buick Roadmonster until he took it to another shop where the guy did 'something' with the computer. Grumpy is a mechanic by trade but couldn't say what the guy did. He thinks he reset something on the computer.

Another thing could be the temp control door not going all the way to the cold position allowing some heater air to mix with the a/c air???

Is your truck a pre 94 or post 94.
If it is a post 94, it is equipped with R134A refridgerant.
If so, 55 degree duct temp on a 95 degree day(depending on humidity) is just about normal.

Agreed. I've noticed since the switch that AC's just are not as cold as they once were. Still, it is plenty cold for me I just haven't seen any of that nice so cold it fogs out the vents stuff like my inlaws buick would do. Now that was a cold AC. Plus, don't AC's not run to potential when it is not hot? So maybe when the temperature actually comes up it will be a bit better.
