Does anyone know the best way to get to the ABS module/motor in the Olds Alero? It seems that it is going to be a pain in the rear to get to and I wanted to know if anyone knows how to get to it without taking the front end apart. My grandpa figures we'll take the front bumper off and that will allow us to access the module more easily.

Maybe you can find some instructions on Auto Zone site, all you need to do is select year model etc, find ABS systems and maybe they will show you some pictures too. Why you think it is module? Did you check wheel speed sensors first?

You acess the ABS Mod by removing the battery tray and you'll need to get under the car and remove some panels down there also.
I would make sure that is your problem before you take this apart.
Those lines on the modulator are under hundreds of PSI even when the car is off,
and you can get sprayed in the face.
Becarefull!

I got that part and right away my grandfather knew something was not right. The part he got was from a 2001 Alero from a salvage yard. It is the same part, but looks a lot different than what is on my car. Do you know if these parts were made differently or why these parts may be different?

It would help to know what year your Alero is in the first place. Thats why we ask the year/make/model/engine size right off.
But to answer your question the 1999 & 2000 are teh same. I am pretty sure the unit was changed in 2001.
So they are Not the same.
I personaly would not have bought used parts for this repair :grinno:
