Ok, enough about the crying, I really did though, sometimes a car can be a damn pain in the rear. Ok, this what happened. Just bought the car about 10 days ago. All was fine with it. 1998 passat, manual, 1.8L turbo 200 000+ km. I was going in the 3rd gear and then shifted to second gear to pass someone and I got the car to rev high (near or on red). As soon as I pressed the clutch to change but to 3rd to continue on ... my nightmare happended. NO clutch !!! I could not put the car into ANY gear ...... the car vibrated a bit and I got a burning smell in the car. The engine is FINE. The pedal is too soft, way to soft. Just after the issue happened, i was still on the road, i pumped the clutch a lot and was able to force it into the 1st gear to take it off-road(praise god). I got the car (piece of shit) towed to the garage. The slave cylinder looks fine, no leak and the fluid level is like before, so I got pissed and I made the mechanic install a brand new Master Cylinder for the clutch, SAME problem. WHAT could it be? If you put it in first gear while the engine is not running, it goes in and the car will "jump" forward, meaning it engage ...i guess. However, my clutch pedal stays soft now. He will check it on monday he says.
What is happening?
HELP !!!

As I recall from nissan transmission, there is a bearing in the transmission that is directly connected to the pedal mechanism. It happened to me sometimes ago in other car where the clutch pedal would not work. We had to take transmision down and change the bearing and everything was fine.
Also, when you lose cluch while you move, just keep pressing gas peddal lightly, and at the same time lightly press into 3rd gear, this will get you going for awhile, and on regular road, press 2nd.
Another thing, check if the level on the side of the transmission moves when you press clutch, this will tell you is if everything is good before transmission.

Sounds like the clutch blew up or pressure plate broke.
