why do you want to remove it?

you won't see much of a gain in performance. if it's not causing a problem, there's no reason to remove it.

its not to gain performance with a number of smalloil leaks and minor problems that are okay for a truck that get about 10 miles put on a year i would rather see less of a mess these years on these trucks is when the emission were still bieng figured out and more seemed better now there is less plumbing on a new truck

Is this a fuel injected engine? I think there were still some carbed engines available in 89, but regardless of that, if you start disconnecting stuff, you may cause drivability problems, and can actually hurt performance and fuel mileage! And if its fuel injected, itll probably drive the computer nuts. LOL If you decide to do it anyway, if you dont have one, borrow a good digital camera. Take plenty of pics from different angles of how things are hooked up now, so when it wont run right you can put it all back like it was.
