Fuel pump test terminal?

I am troublshooting an intermittent fuel pump problem on a 98 Astro. The guide that I am using calls for applying a 12v jumper to the fuel pump test terminal. The guide says that this is located on the drivers side of the engine compartment. Pic shows it to be near the fuse box. Does anyone have any idea what this looks like and where its located? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is a red 14ga wire with an eyelet terminal attached to the end. The eyelet is not connected to anything, and just pulls out from under the underhood fuse panel. The trouble is, I have tried it on several Astro and Safari vans, most of them don't power up the fuel pump. What symptoms are you experiencing?

The van will run fine one day the next when you go to start the fuel pump will not run for the 2 second prime. I was hoping to force the pump to run the next time it would not start. I have swapped the relay with the a/c enable relay which appears to have not made a difference. I did change the filter. I did empty the filter and it had alot of metal particles in the input side. the pump is louder than in the past. I would just like to be certain it is the pump failing before I spend 375.00 for a new one.

be glad you don't have a 2000 - new fuel pump just cost me nearly double your price.

Now I am NO expert, so listen to the other folks posts... but I can say this: I had a particularly loud fuel pump which progressively got louder over a 1-month period - until it crapped out on me. Also, metal particles in the intake of the fuel filter cannot be good... might want to consider getting the tank cleaned when you (eventually) do the pump.

I´m having a problem with my Astro ´97. I think it is the fuel pump because it doen´t start and I don´t hear the sound of the fuel pump running. This problem began about one month ago because the sound was loud and it din´t stop. Then the van started to fail like it has no fuel, even having more than half a tank. Could you help me telling me which is the procedure to change the pump? Do you have any diagram to do it? and where is located the pump?

If the red wire does not operate the fuel pump: On the '98 Astro you can access the fuel pump circuit at the oil pressure sending unit. The engine cover must be removed, below and to the rear of the distributor is the oil pressure sending unit. Disconnect the connector and apply 12 volts to the grey wire which goes directly to the fuel pump.
