92 Regal Voltage problem

I had a problem about a month back with the voltage gauge reading only 9 or 10 volts then the car just died on me. I installed a new alternator and battery and It started up no problem. now I'm back down to 9 or 10 volts but when I take the car up to highway speed the volt gauge will go back up to it's normal range 16-18 but as soon as I get back in stop and go the volt gauge goes back to 9 or 10.

Check the wires .. especially the small wire to the alternator for corrosion and good clean contact.

Thanks for your reply the small wire you speak of is that the RED eyelet b+ lead or the plug end one?
