TS9 = British Green
TS43 = Racing Green
So which one is British Racing Green?
:uhoh: :banghead:
Which one (in your opinion) is good for the Prisoner S7?

I've misted in TS43 but I'm afraid it's going to be a bit light. On the other hand I'm thinking TS9 is going to be too dark! :lol:
Probably do one coat of TS9 over base of TS43 :screwy::screwy:

I painted my Tamiya Morgan in the TS-9 and it looked like a good match to British Racing green.

Lol, I see your dilemma. I had a simular headache when deciding on the paint for my RAV4 I'm working on. I eventually went for Gunze's Mr. Color (spray can) #77 Metalic Green base coat, which means it needs a clear over it for it to shine.
If you're stuck with Tamiya's or you don't want a metalic paint.. then I would try either: A. A couple of mist coats of Ts-9 under the Ts-43. or B. Use a gray primer under the Ts-43

Steve

I always considered TS9 to be a good match for Jaguar's version of BRG. TS43, being lighter, is more suited to Lotus racers like the Type 25. Not really familiar with the Prisoner car so can't recommend either. If you have an airbrush then why not decant a bit of each and mix a custom shade to you liking?

The problem comes from wanting to use BRG. BRG has no real formula and can go from a dark emerald green to a rather "flat" looking cedar green. No British racing manufacturer ever used the same color code and no images can be trusted to give you the real tonal qualities of the shade. Best to determine for yourself which color, when test sprayed, says "Hey, that's British Racing Green for sure" and go with that!

Thanks Bill, Phil and the 2 Steve's (sounds like a comedy act :lol:)
I've decanted, experimented and am going with the TS43 after all. It darkens up nicely after a few coats and will give a nice contrast to the yellow nose cone (said the color blind modeler). Also, if as Phil advises, it's good for the Lotus 25 it's also good enough for me on a Lotus 7 of the same approximate period.
The TS9 looked a bit too Landrover-ish for my tastes this time round.
Thanks again for your thoughts :thumbsup:

I would tend to go with the TS9. The few pics I've seen of the Prisoner 7 (see above) show it to be dark green- the sort of color that if it weren't in direct sunlight would be close to black. The CobraColors formulation for BRG (I believe Leon used a Jaguar code) looks like this. I've seen a certain 7 painted with this color, and it looks spot on. :2cents:

You could be right Andy. The TS9 is just a bit dark for me.
The 7 looks a touch lighter than that to me - even the modern limited edition ones.

Anyway, it's only for fun and I'm glad to be actually building something for a change!
BTW - the DVDs are useless reference in respect colours :D

Agreed - having just watched the first five episodes earlier today, I'd definately recommend the darker shade! :grinyes:

Episode 7 in my box set ('Many Happy Returns') - watched it last night :lol:
Mine will be a darker shade, & the yellow will also need to be suitable for my Daytona (buying the cans tomorrow). Hopefully the weather will clear up & the family leave me in peace, giving me a chance to spraypaint the bodyshell in the garden, otherwise I might have to use the boot of my car as a spraybooth :eek: :rolleyes: :grinyes:
Won't have time to build a matching Moke though :frown:
Be seeing you :lol:

:lol: Yep, be seeing you ;)
Car also appears in episodes:"Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling", and "Fall Out".
Look out in DNFMOMD - it's a different car!! See the GB sticker on the rear in some shots (theey seem to mix older footage with newer stuff for this episode.

Good thinking - forgotten about that! Heller might have done that type of Alouette, but an eBay search only brought up different (later?) ones :frown: Do you know which type it is?
I have enough cannibalised Tamiya Minis lying around that a Moke is a distinct possibility - just need to find some blueprints first :)
Who is Number 1? :iceslolan :evillol:
