Mounting a BOV

so i havent been able to find any one who sells just a piece of piping that i can mount my bov to. i found whole upper intercooler piping kits but their alittle out of my price range at the moment. so any help on this matter would be great.

you can either get a flange that has to be welded onto the IC pipe. but if you have the stock rubber/plastic IC hoses, then you may have to opt for one of the DSM BOVs with adapter. OR, if your BOV doesn't require a flange mount, you can simply use a small section of rubber radiator hose and attach both ends with hose clamps.

okay thanks i think im just gonna have to get a piece of pipe and weld it one cuz i have a greddy bov that i have been waiting to put on.

What exactly are you looking for? My greddy fit w/ the stock piping fine. It was in the way of the shifter counter-weight though. So I had to relocate it. If that is what you are talking about...I went to Autozone and asked to look at their radiator piping. I took my BOV there, found a pipe that fit, took it home, cut it down to size, done deal. Is that what you are talking about?

Because I'm 90% sure my Greddy came with the adapter.

Because I'm 90% sure my Greddy came with the adapter.mine didnt come with the adaptor... ebay. but maybe ill just get an adapter and do what you did. it sounds pretty painless. so let me see if i got this right. just get rad hose from bov to where the stock bov? do you got any pictures to make this project alittle easier

Well I'd try mounting it in the stock location seen here (http://www.vr4stealth.com/bov_greddy_install.htm)
Shift through all hte gears...see if you can get into them all or if you are getting blocked. If memory serves me right, I couldn't get into 1st, 3rd, or 5th. If that is the case, what I did was get a straight radiator hose that fit the BOV, that is about a foot long. I also got a radiator hose repair kit. Which is basically a plastic hollow tube the size of a D battery, and 2 hose clamps.

I jammed the plastic tube from the radiator repair kit into the bottom of the intake 'bubble' that is labeled 'feedback outlet' in the picture. I then took the hose labeled 'hose to y-pipe' and disconnected it from the y-pipe. Then I attached it to the other end of the plastic radiator repair plastic piece. Then I attached the Greddy BOV feeback end to it. This hose has a curvature to it, so I pointed it away from the tranny. Kinda like up and towards the battery.

Then I used the radiator pipe that I had just bought (and thouroughly cleaned) and connected one end of it to the y-pipe and one end to the BOV inlet. Clamp everythign down so it doesn't blow off.

At this point, my BOV was basically between where my intake box would be, and my battery...but lower to the ground. It points kinda downward which was a PITA for adjusting. But once I got it adjusted to where I wanted it..I havn't had to touch it.

^This site shows installation and just zip ties it outta hte way. Which probably works. But I prefer mine. Personally I'd rather not lose half my gears some day while cruising if a zip tie or 2 break.

awesome description thanks for all the help. i just have one more question. in eclipses if u dont recirculate the bov it will mess with idle... do vr4 / tt have this problem or can we run open?

You want to recirc it.

Yeah we have the same problem...because the air is already metered by the MAS. You wanna recirc it, as Stealthee said, or you may run into rich situations and stalling problems
