Escape losing power

HELP!!! Please!!!
My 05 V6 Escape seems to lose power after coming out of passing gear. It pulls really strong and kicks out at about 80 mph, surges to about 82 mph, and then slows. It's almost like it's downshifting from passing gear to OD. I've tried it with the OD turned off and it still does it. I have the ECU flashed with an SCT flasher for a 93 octane performance program. I flashed it back to the factory setting and it still does it. It seems to do it when I keep the pedal floored but, when I lift, it seems to shift from passing gear to 3rd and starts pulling strong again-but won't if I keep it floored. A Ford Tech on Escape-Central said it might be the spark knock sensor as the SCT tuner jacks up the timing. But, with the factory setting flashed, it's running on 93 octane and I have never heard any spark knock and find it hard to believe that it would knock on 93 octane. I have a MAC CAI and a 2-1/4" catback exhaust with a turbo muffler. I've just noticed recently that it's doing this. I just turned 12K
on it and use full synthetic oil. Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated! My dealer won't even check it out as they say they can't drive it over 65 mph.

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem . Sounds silly but many a Ford fuel filters have clogged causing exact symptom or a fuel pump that is weakening .
Escape has a fuel rail pressure sensor so if you have a scan tool where PIDS (data stream) can be viewed , look at FRP and drive to make problem happen and see if fuel pressure is dropping

Hope this helps

sparkslg,
Thanks for the input! I'm tending to agree with you. It runs like a striped a$$
ape until it kicks out of passing gear. But now, it has started topping out at 85 mph on a flat road, 90 going downhill. When new it would at least hit the top speed limiter at about 102 mph. The SCT tuner (ECU flasher) supposedly removes both the top speed and rpm limits but, I can't even check that out. If it does seem to be getting enough fuel at passing gear kick-out, do you think it still could have a fuel problem that allows enough fuel at 6000 rpm at
passing gear kick-out but not enough after that?
Thanks again!
