Farewell to the Safari rally

Is anyone going to miss the safari rally now that it's been dropped from the 2003 WRC calendar and replaced with a Turkish event?

IMO it's a shame to see it go as it seemed to be the last real test of endurance for the cars and drivers, even though the 2002 season saw it restructured into just another 3-day sprint event.

Apparently Carlos Sainz was glad to see it go on safety grounds, but a large number of drivers are expressing their regrets at seeing one of the last 'historic' events go.

I have mixed feeling about this. One the one hamd, the rally was a true test of machinery (and drivers as well), on the other hand - seemed quite boring to me. As in too long. But let's see what the Turkish event will be like.

Also the Kiwis get a double dose of Rally action, as the Rally of NZ has shifted from October-------->April :D
